Gran Turismo 5 Goes Gold as Production Starts

To add to the seemingly endless string of Gran Turismo 5 release date stories, news just surfaced that Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed earlier today that GranTurismo 5 had reached gold status, meaning that Polyphony Digital has delivered the title’s master disc to Sony for production.

Sony now needs to produce a whopping seven million blu ray copies, a process that has started as we speak. As of now, no new release date has been confirmed but the fact that production is now underway seems to indicate that Sony will be able to come true on their promised release “before Christmas”.

Gran Turismo 5 will be bringing 1000 cars and over 60 tracks to the Playstation 3, including new features such as damage, weather and day/night effects. GT5 will be one of the first six Playstation 3 games to be available in 3D. The title will be out during the holiday season, no exact date has been announced as of yet.

    Will the engine sounds be improved over time?

    Kaz: There have been a lot of improvements made to the engine sounds. Obviously it’s not enough, there’s more we can do to improve them, so it’s still work in progress.

    I would not count on it, I pre-ordered the game from Amazon 31/2 months ago,; here is what I received TODAY from AMAZON:

    That december 31 date is just there because the game was delayed. It’s meaningless. The actual release date has not been confirmed by Sony.

    Anyway, December 31 is a friday and game releases in North America happen on tuesdays.

    so when Kazunori Yamauchi says the release date and I believe…but I no longer know whether to believe with so many changes of release date by the Kazunori Yamauchi end Polyphony Digital….It’s been 3 years since the GT5 prologue come out for sale…please released the damn game,which seems to be cursed >:o
