Gran Turismo 5 – Free Corvette C7 DLC Released

Polyphony Digital has released free DLC content for their Gran Turismo 5 title as the new Corvette C7 Stingray is now available.

The newest Corvette model was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show recently and now GT5 users can already enjoy the car in the virtual world, thanks to a close partnership with Chevrolet.

This isn’t the first appearance of the C7 in Gran Turismo 5 as a camouflaged version of the car was available since late November.

The new car is available for free, Gran Turismo 5 users simply have to update their game to the newest version.

Last sentence you wrote is incorrect. You have to do more than just update the game. You first need to go to the PS store to download the 100kb file that unlocks the car. Then once you boot up GT5, go all the way to the right of the main menu and click downloadable content, then find the new car and click install.

I’m pretty sure anyone that got the C7 camoflauged car or any other DLC knows how to do this but I had to correct what you wrote.

Don’t you even play GT5? You should. The variety is incredible and it’s great fun to play even if it’s not as hardcore a sim as iracing, or as realistic as netkar. Plus nearly all good FFB wheels work on it

I don’t understand why people care about playing new, unreleased cars in games like Forza or GT5 since basically nothing lines up with the real car except maybe the interior. It’s not like you can then go talk about how the new car handles better or feels sharper in your hands…

Sound is abysmal as normal. And the top speed of 214 mph? The real car will not go any where near that.

I agree. Adjust the brake balance, change the tires to Comfort Soft (for cars below 250hp), Medium (250-400hp) or Soft (400hp and up)* and enjoy.

    * For old cars choose tires one step harder, for uber track orientated machinery one step softer: it works and makes it much more fun and challenging.

So because you can’t compare those things you think it’s pointless to drive these types of cars?

    One word: escapism.

GT5 just needs to fire their entire sound crew, they have no idea how to make a car sound good, sad really. If it was PC I would have already replaced all the sounds in GT5 with the ones from Forza, at least they have a clue how to make a car sound good that in real life should! This new Vette in GT5 sounds about as good as my blender.

My point is that there’s no reason to grab DLC for a C7 when the C6 is already in the game and should drive exactly the same. If it doesn’t then it’s based on nothing in reality.

  • http://twitter.com/StarFoXySxv550 StarFoXySxv550

Why would it drive the same as the C6 when it’s based on the new specs for the C7? In fact, one would think the cars are based on the real world prototype test mules that have already driven hundreds and thousands of real miles in preparation for customer release.

Because we’re not talking about a Sim here. We’re talking about a relatively old game that is trying to stay relevant with DLC.
