Gran Turismo 5 – First Monaco Previews

A new batch of Gran Turismo 5 preview screenshot reveals the Monaco Grand Prix track in the upcoming Playstation 3 racer, disguised under the name Cote d’Azur Circuit.

Also included in the new preview batch are various cars renders, including the Honda NSX GT500 Super GT Race car, the BMW M5 and the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG.

Meanwhile, it seems like Sony’s promise to announce a new release date before October ends will be broken as tomorrow’s the last day of October and an announcement on Sunday seems rather unlikely.

Gran Turismo 5 will be bringing 1000 cars and over 60 tracks to the Playstation 3, including new features such as damage, weather and day/night effects. GT5 will be one of the first six Playstation 3 games to be available in 3D. The title will be out during the holiday season, no exact date has been announced but Sony plans to announce a new release date by the end of October.

    ponyphony should stop. releasing screenshots and videos while delaying their game years and months again and again. the hype is the suck. the game too. i will be so glad once gt5 is released, and i hopefully won’t see any more “previews” on virtualR about it.

    I never liked Monaco in Gran Turismo. They layout sucks, they put barriers in places where they don’t exist in real life, and it looks terrible at sunset.

    they’ve skanked the Brazil plug-in and shot some quite lovely renders.

    brilliant.  

    but this isn’t the game.  this isn’t what the game looks like.  this is like loading screens, not ‘in-game footage’ as anyone reasonably understands it.

    So, beautiful, but…..a little deceptive.

    the GT5 are going out for the last year..I knew for some friends who work in certain game shops …. and this news,is to sad because they are fed up with delay of the game,and we wait for him….

    Christmas 2011. Duke Nukem Forever will be out first. No really, it will be out first.

    Monaco was reallly quite bad in past GT games, it woulld be nice if they could improve it.

    I want to ask the GT5 guys: is that NSX with a mesh smooth modifier in the render?

    the normals around the gaps of the doors are wrecked, and some edges are very strange too. Or just some shadings? I don’t think those are shadings though.

    it would be good to show us a wireframe of the GT5 models.

    I like their screenshot generally but as always they made a trick of showing very little  to look over.  The first two shots looks quite a bit underexposed and dark btw. Where is all the nice lighting?

    Duke Nukem Forever has NOT been released though… and there has been ongoing joking about that title, as it has been SOO long on the way – newest official release-date has been announced to be in 2011.
