Yesterday’s rumors about Gran Turismo 5 being playable on the GamesCom expo have proven to be true and below is first footage of Sony’s recently-announced Playstation 3 racer.
We get to check out a race on the Toyko Route 246 track, driving in a Subaru WRC race car.
Gran Turismo 5 will be bringing 1000 cars and over 60 tracks to the Playstation 3, including new features such as damage, weather and day/night effects. A release date for the newest part of the GT franchise has not yet been revealed.

Take a look at the left side of the video, there’s damage! On the other screen, the bumper gets damaged and the door opens.

It still looks too sterile/calm, like your are taking a Sunday drive on the most smooth surface in the world…

Understeer? In a WRC? And that steering wheel looks pretty small, and it doesn’t do more then 10 degrees of visual lock???

That track is a repeat. I think the last GT I played was 3. It had that same track! Where are all the people? Cities void of people are like driving in a city after the Apocalypse. Nothing new here. Same old car collecting game. At least TDU had a whole different story.

Why does PD insist on the single file starts? Just one of many shortcomings.

I noticed the driver’s hands don’t leave the wheel during shifts–does it mimmick a real Automatic transmission, or is their no shifting graphics?

WRC cars do have paddle shifts so this is realistc I guess..

Excellent graphics.
Nothing simulation.
All show no go.

If you think WRC (or anything else) is immune to understeer you are mistaken.

Looks fine, Id love to see some footage that shows theyve been working on the AI side of things tho.
