In a recent interview with Autoweek magazine, creator Kazunori Yamauchi commented that “We will give the release date of Gran Turismo 5 soon.”
Even though soon is not exactly a very exact term, a good opportunity to announce the release date is coming up – The Tokyo Game Show in late September. Not only is this home ground for the Tokyo-based Polyphony Digital Studios, the Game Show was used to unveil Gran Turismo 5 Prologue’s release date two years ago!
Following a very impressive new trailer shown at the E3, Gran Turismo fans are now waiting for further info on the fifth installment of the popular GT series. While Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport 3 is already set to be released in October, it still remains unclear on how long Playstation 3 users have to wait for GT5.

I heard a rumor that GT 5 might just drop in December(2009 not 2011). This might just be Kaz spewing his usual BS but I’m hoping there’s some truth in it.

Some places voiced a rumour it was coming later this year, but I’m wondering if they got it confused with the PSP version.
Regardless, despite sticking my flag in the Xbox camp this generation (and remaining extremely sceptical of Forza) I look forward to GT5 coming out. Though this time I’m sure I’ll probably be thinking “Oh why the hell didn’t I get a PS3?”

Soon can’t be soon enough. Even more excited for this one after E3.
