Gran Turismo 5 – Coming On 3 Blu-Ray Discs?

Posted on October 21st, 2009 in

Mercedes Benz and Polyphony Digital have released a new promo video, showing the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG coupe in Gran Turismo 5.

What’s most interesting about this video isn’t the car though as it briefly shows Gran Turismo 5’s packaging. Judging by the video, it looks like Gran Turismo 5 will be shipped in a massive box containing three Blu-Ray discs.

Given the fact that three single-layer Blu-Ray discs hold up to 75 gigabytes of data, it seems highly unlikely that GT5 will actually require this much space. The other two discs may very well be car videos or some other sort of promo material, it makes for an impressive looking package for sure though.

    My prediction:
    Box1: GT5
    Box2: BluRay Making-Of GT5
    Box3: Manual
And that’s the Collector’s Edition, there will be a normal edition with only GT5.
    My 2 cents.

My guess: Everyone who wants to play this game will need new upgraded version of PS3 with bigger HD to be able to play..

Konami completely embarrassed Polyphony at their own game with probably 1/10th the dev cost with Enthusia. GT has the most odd physics I’ve ever felt. I’ve played it tons of times with all assists off. It feel weird, disconnected, distant, spongy and inconsistent. Am I the only one that gets driven up a fricken wall when people say GT is realistic? It’s a god damn joke when it comes to simulating real vehicle physics. It makes you wonder if anyone at polyphony has ever used a real sim before.

It’s a fun game, I’ll give it that, but the dev team is 100% delusional if they think they’re creating a real simulator. The last one that felt anything remotely like a simulator was GT2, which isn’t exactly saying much.
