Gran Turismo 5 Coming November 2nd!

Breaking News from E3: Gran Turismo 5 will be coming to the Playstation 3 on November 2nd  2010 in North America and Latin America!

Sony revealed the release date on their anual E3 Entertainment Expo press conference after showing a brand new Gran Turismo 5 video trailer. The release date was specifically mentioned to be for the American versions, neither a European nor a Japanese release date have been mentioned.

The action-packed video trailer contained several new gameplay scenes featuring most cars that have been seen before, including NASCAR action at Indianapolis, Super GT cars, the Nordschleife, the Top Gear Test Track and rallying. Furthermore, the trailer showed first impressions of the long-awaited day & night cycle, leaving only weather as last to be confirmed feature.

Furthermore, the trailer revealed a partnership with Red Bull as both Sebastian Vettel and Adrian Newey could be seen in the video as well as Kazunori Yamauchi being on site at Red Bull’s headquarters hinting at the inclusion of Red Bull’s Formula One car.

Last month’s rumors that Gran Turismo 5 would be supporting Sony’s upcoming Move motion controller don’t seem to be true as the press conference extensively featured the Move controller, GT 5 was never mentioned as supported title though.

Meanwhile, details on how the game will be released become available. GT 5 will be available as no-frills version and as Collectors Edition, containing various interesting gimmicks. The Collectors Edition will include the game, a 1:43 scale model of the Nissan GT-R V-Spec, a 300+ pages handbook with info on the cars and driving techniques as well as a coupon code for five DLC cars. The Collectors Edition is planned to go on sale for $99.99.

    Hmm.. but what year… 2020? :)

  • grimes

    no date for europa?

The GT5 video at the E3 Sony Conference clearly shows day/night cycle and Red Bull F1 team involvement (meaning there will be more F1 car than just the Ferraris). Also damage which includes roll-over. Those into NASCAR, here’s a few lineup in the E3 demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBqkvh2gi5c

Wow this news generates so much traffic that http://www.gtplanet.net just went down for me

lol :sd: But this was unexpected, very pleasant.

This game would be sooooo much better if it were to come out on PC too.

The Top Gear Test Track looks amazing.

They also showed a production car rolling, night time driving, a rally stage (looks like San Remo), but still didn’t show full damage.

The PS3 is about the price of a decent gfx card and you can use any USB PC wheels- G25, G27 even the PC only Fanatec (unlike the xbox 360). It’s a minimal investment even if all you’ll play on it is GT5. Although I would also add the cost of a decent sized HDTV (32″ min) if you haven’t already.

Wow, one last check of virtualr before sleep and this. :-) I am in Europe though, but at least this is for the first time we can see some actual release date, great. Pretty excited… gimme my model of GT-R, now! :-)

Btw, Gran Turismo can never be released for PC, it is just not possible to tune such complex piece of software for something as uncertain as PC with various graphic cards and operating systems etc… Polyphony are perfectionists, not going to happen, ever. United hw is the only way to produce really dependable software.

trully amazing news  now all I need to do is wait patiently untill November :shame: ! Forza 4??? LOL M$ always after your hard earned money with junk LOL

The Fanatec wheel is not PC only. It is a PC / PS3 wheel. Anyway lets hope for a European release date soon.

I watched this live and I couldn’t stop smiling after I saw the first footage of Portal 2, so when GT5 finally came on it was a constant battle of picking my jaw off the floor while trying to focus on all the new footage on the screen. :sd:

There were more than a few moments when GT5 crossed the line between virtual and reality, particularly when they replicated TopGear’s trademark blue camera filter. :sd:

Can’t wait to hear how it sounds still, fingers crossed, I rather want my cash go to a PS3, it feels more special than a graphics card.

P.S. It felt like time slowed down when the release date was getting revealed at the end lol, way to play to the controversy Sony!

Oh please what crap. The only reason it’s PS3-only is because Sony wouldn’t allow a PC release, the game is there to sell PS3s.
There is nothing super complex about the software compared to PC games.

Gorgeous. Absolutely stunning visuals. Too bad the driving and racing models won’t be up to snuff, if past GT games are any indications.

Good thing I didn’t have coffee in my mouth when I read this. That is utter bullshite. As Maddmatt said, Sony keeps the GT series as a PlayStation exclusive for one reason — to sell more PlayStation hardware.
