Gran Turismo 5 – Audi Nordschleife Video

Audi and Sony have put together a new promo video, showing the Audi R8 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife both in reality and in the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 title for the Playstation 3.

The video features Audi DTM driver Martin Tomczyk who tackles the Nordschleife both in the R8 and on the Playstation. When asked about the realism level in today’s games, Tomczyk comments on how video games can be a great tool for track learning. He also points out the missing feedback from the car’s movements and the environment, a common complaint of real life race drivers who try modern games/simulations.

The video iscompletely in German, you´re not missing much though as most centers around the usual marketing spiel. Much more interesting are the scenes that give us a good look at what will probably be the most realistic graphical reprensation of the legendary German track yet.

In related news, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has recently confirmed that the upcoming title will contain dynamic weather and day & night transitions as well as damage for race cars, features that have been requested by a majority of Gran Turismo users.

I suggest you also include a translation of the important parts of the article. It also mention that they (PD) are “working on car damage for race cars”. I would also rephrase “dynamic lighting” to “include day and night races” as that is what the translation says.

Also the Nur. shown in this video will not be the final one as it is simply the GT4 version with updated tarmac textures. The final one will look much better. Suzuka in GT5p is from GT4 but ALL of its textures are revised, thus it looks as good as it does.

Personally I can’t wait for GT5 no matter what it is or has.

Paskowitz- I’m with you on this one. I’ve been waiting for this with unwavering devotion and it seems the delay is worth it. With 600 cars and 90+ tracks and now this from Kazunori Yamauchi himself-

What new twists can GT fans expect soon?
We are currently working on simulating changing
weather conditions that can affect the race.
And we will soon also be able to simulate damage
    to the race cars.
