Even though their upcoming Gran Turismo 5 title for the Playstation 3 wasn’t a big part of their exhibition lineup, Sony used the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco to once more ensure the gaming community that GT5 will indeed be released this year.
Following the cancellation of the Japan release in March, the gaming world is pretty much in limbo about when to expect Gran Turismo 5 as no release date for either the Japanese or th US/EU version has been given. Now that a 2010 release is confirmed, gamers have to wait a maximum of eight months and two weeks – Provided there’s no other stumbling block in the way that causes yet another delay.
Gran Turismo 5 will be bringing 1000 cars and over 60 tracks to the Playstation 3, including new features such as damage, weather and day/night effects.

They say 2010, So expect the game on shelves in 2012……
I can wait however, it will certainly be good for a console game.

Liking or disliking a “game” whatever it is is OK but when you add nothing to the discussion if this isn’t trolling NOTHING else is!
Back on topic I continue with the same opinion it’s coming out at the same time as Halo: Reach which is the right decision!

Los Angeles will have an NFL team before GT 5 is released.

How long have you been posting here?? Not sure because I’ve made clear time after time that I own pretty much all sims out there to this date except iRacing (although I own NR2003 and tried iRacing for 1month) and all I do is talk about GT5? Dude the game isn’t even out I’m not sure how the physics will play (GT Academy makes me hope it will be great) so what would be the point of talking crap that could come and hunt me back? I seriously don’t understand some people

It’s easy to criticise GT5’s delay’s, they are undoubtedly very annoying.
But rFactor 2 may not even be released in 2010, then we have to wait for the mods etc.
At lease when GT5’s released it will be a complete, plug and play, package with more content and features than you could ever wish for.

:D
But to be honest sorry for anyone with such an emotional attachment to a game.
And what does Halo Reach have to do anything felipe. It’s an FPS GT5 is a sim…. I don’t think PD are looking at the release schedule thinking “what game can we go up against”
Paul Kelly
March 12th, 2010 at 18:24
True. But it won’t be a sim. rFactor 2 will be.
GT is a car-collecting game with a solid driving model at heart. That’s always been the mojo of the series. Always will be.

March 12th, 2010 at 20:29
But that wasn’t the point, I think. Regardless of personal opinions, the fact is that GT5 unlike rFactor depends solely on the developer (Polyphony) for content.

How do you know teh driving model wont be sim-like? have you played GT5? sounds like you have. how does it handle? how effective are the weather physics?
Anyways abck to the original news. 2010? seriously how is that a fucking release date? a release date involves a day, month and YEAR.

You cant call it a sim if the tracks are inaccurate, which they are.

Just look at the track record. “The Real Driving Simulator” never has had a damage model. It has had brain-dead racing AI. It never has had weather effects.
So why the hell am I supposed to believe Polyphony now?
Polyphony always has emphasized graphics and numbers of cars — even though that’s misleading since we get 45 different Imprezas and 31 different Skylines depicted as unique cars — over physics and gameplay.
Why? Because that’s what sells in console land.

unbelievable, some people here always manage to take te word complaining to a higher level…
If you ask me GT5 wil be a SIM(!!!) with great physics, good sounds, and the best graphics in a sim ever.
And i think this because i played the demo wich had the ingredients i just described here

March 12th, 2010 at 22:18
If you think GT is a sim, then you wouldn’t know one if it gored a hole into your skull.

March 12th, 2010 at 22:37
and here we go again… is it a sim? but ints ona console
jesus just wait for it and jkudge then (but dont judge by its plattform, im so sick of this)
jonneymendoza
March 13th, 2010 at 00:22
exactly. some people are complete anti console people here. fucking joke some of these lot are. Yes past GT games wasnt that great sim-wise and iddnt have damage, weather etc etc but wake teh fuck up. GT5 is a NEW game. how can idiots judge it and lable it not a sim just because of past games?
Sorry but PD have a great chance of producing a racing sim than codemasters F1 game.

I don’t need to defend my reasons for prefaring GT5, I’ve been playing sims for 20 years, and am well aware of what is on offer on all platforms.
Some PC users need to open their eyes and see what is happening in ‘console land’, it’s a far more sophisticated market than many give it credit for.
Not only is the age of the average console user in their mid 30’s, a huge number of former PC gamers have made the move as consoles have become the lead platform for FPS titles.

So because consoles are more popular, that instantly deems Gt5 will have Sim physics?
No, its a semi sim at best, it will be a great game, dont get me wrong, the demo proves that, but it does not rival pc sims in terms of realism. Graphics, yes, content, yes, fun, well thats subjective (I think it is), but physics, no.

I think it still manages to remain pretty civilised here at VirtualR, I think all the mudslinging is just one negative side effects of the continuing evolution of internet culture.
It’s not like it’s just us ether, developers like Dan Greenwalt set a good example for throwing around the gauntlet. We end up with just the two extreme sides of the argument shouting louder than the rest of us who are impartial, and our voices end up as but a whisper in the wind compared to the next nobody with opinion to add to the controversy.

Maybe, but i think the mudslinging stepped up a few notches after Rob started covering console titles. Not saying consolians are bad people, but something happened.
I guess the two camps annoy each other, pc simmers (rightfully :) )moan about consoles being all about eye candy while console users slam the graphics of pc sims. Welcome to the virtual Gaza Drag Strip.

nothing wrong with rfactors graphics anyway force some 16q ssaa absolutely beautiful for an old game great engine, even 4 or 8 x msaa. rfactor 2 will be insane.

stabiz, I would have to agree that the BS picked up around the time the console guys came aboard.
So is that a fact that consoles are the new home for FPSers? I find that hard to believe with the lack of mouse.
drdryvillage
March 16th, 2010 at 19:34
ermax: yes, fps games are a big thing in consoles now. why? because the developers dumb down the gameplay. it sells more, devs are happy.
