The Grand Prix Games Super League has released a new mod for Paolo Cattani’s Virtual Grand Prix 3 simulation, introducing a new single-seater to the mod.
The mod includes a full grid of 200hp open-wheel race cars, giving inexperienced users a good car to learn before switching to the more powerful F1-style cars. Follow the download link to find the mod and a required bug fix as well as some more info.
Virtual Grand Prix 3 features a full field of Formula cars and five different tracks. The sim sells for reasonable 14,90€ including one year of updates, a free demo is available on the VGP3 website.

Let me say one thing: this mod is simply a blast to drive! Paolo Cattani has done an incredible job with the physic of these cars, amazing.
An update is already in the work and will come with “texture fixes & improvements, camera adjustments, ai cars learning the tracks”.

This mod does not work when I copy over the files to my Virtual Grand Prix 3 files. Bug fix says to “copy the roster_GPGSL file to \vgp3\veicoli\f3_gpgsl\config folder”. This folder is not even included with the mod files. There is no f3_gpgsl folder under veicoli game folder.

It is: you just need to install the mod properly.
Estract the mod from its rar and put the f3_gpgsl folder in \vgp3\veicoli\f3_gpgsl\. Then you can put the bugfix in the “config folder”, as written in the readme: you don’t have to copy all the loose folders in your main VGP3 folder. Mod installation has chenged since version 0.80.

Oh, well that’s easy enough. Works. Installed it into v.81 and the AI cars do not take off during race mod. Graphics are choppy. Going to put it into v.80 and see what happens.
Same thing in v0.80. Graphics not as smooth. Cars sit on grid when race starts. I like the slower cars though, big time! I hope I can keep up with progress of this mod.

AI was not trained in the first release: you can find more informations on the official forum. By the way, release 2 has just been released: it should contain improved AI too, but you may need to let them drive in order to learn the track. You can download it at the same link posted above! ;)
