Game Stock Car 2012 – Nordschleife Released

RaceDepartment, Mister X & Dave Begley have released the Nürburgring Nordschleife for Game Stock Car 2012.

Originally created for rFactor by Com8, 6e660 and friends, the track has been converted to match Game Stock Car 2012, including improved grip levels.

The track currently comes with two layouts, Tourist and Tourist Short, including the iconic Steilstrecke. The creators are planning to release more layouts later on.

Racedepartment will be running various events on the track in the coming weeks so check out their Game Stock Car forums if you want to take part!

Wooaahh, that is AWESOME!! :) I need to give this a go!

You can buy this sim (GSC) with great modeled cars from F1 to road cars and with some really well done tracks now including the Nordschleife for 20 USD, if that isn’t a bargain I dont know what is…

I wish Niels ports that new Corvette C6 for GSC as well, looks great in rF.

Nordschleife should be mandatory for all modern sims! :D

The Ring has gained popularity like crazy over the last 10 years and it’s easy to see why. I’m a huge Top Gear fan and I wish somebody would include the Transfagarasan Highway in Romania but it’s too big for most racing game engines.

  • ghost3rt

Someone made the Transfagarasan Highway for rFactor. Good fun for crusing and random racing with mates! :D

Best track and best version of Nord made for any sim ever. Graphically on triple screens, you just look around at the scenery smiling, watching the hot air balloons pass by your view. :)

Great to see it for GSC, the best sim currently out today in finished form.

Just did a few laps with the different cars, this is really GREAT!! :)

The track looks amazing in 3D as well. There are some places where you really notice the down and up hills much better than in other version of this track.

The F3 car was my favorite! Just enough power and grip to play a bit while being fast and consistent! With the MP4 F1 car you need drive with care or you will hit a wall in no time, great fun though! :)

As soon as I saw the headline I thought ‘GSC…. Nords…’ this is gonna be popular :)

Looking fwd to trying this although Nords has never been my thing (basically because I can never remember what bit is coming up next) but I can appreciate why it’s loved by so many. I’m gonna try it in the Mini first :)

  • Ricoo

    Great !!!. Thanks a lot. :)

been driving it on and off for a year and still can’t remember most of the middle section corners :)

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Then I have no chance :)

  • Anonymous

I would dare to say nowadays I finally remember every single corner perfectly but boy, did that take some time. I surely did over 1000 laps, I would really like to know exact figure but I don’t.

I had weeks when I didnt play any other track than nords, it just requires this dedication, but once you remember it its not any harder than other tracks.

This is the same version of the rFactor’s nods right?

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

I dont have that kind of time or patience to do that. I`ll just have to enjoy the fun of wondering what’s coming up next.

Drove some more and can now make some decently consistent laps with the F3 car, im at about 6.55 currently, that is barely keeping up with the AI at 100% level… Need more practice! :)

I learned Nords from GPL (12 years ago) and I still have never got sick of driving around it. In fact, after all these years, it is still my absolute favorite track. I do all my base setups with Nords, its got great variation ;) Haven’t tried this one yet but I can’t wait, thanks for the hard work and making it public !!!!!

Actually as I think of it now I may have done less than 1000 laps.
Because, lets assume for some very quick numbers I did 8 laps per hour on average; that would mean 125 hours of pure driving just there which sounds to be too much.
So lets say you can learn it after few hundreds laps :)

Agreed, the F3 car feels just right, plenty of speed but quite fun… the “F1″ car is a bit to much!

I don’t know how accurate this track is, but it’s pretty good to drive and looks quite good,

Love the work involved doing the track, hate actually driving the track. :-)

    Thank you!

Ehh, I “think”(..) I know the tourist pretty well by now. But what the hell is the “Tourist Short” layout? Is it “Bridge-to-Gantry” like most people time their laps in real life, or how?…

  • http://twitter.com/nickovey nickovey

I think it’s just a version which misses out the Karussell section, instead going straight on at Steilstrecke, rejoining over the hill at Hohe Acht..As far as I know the rest of the layouts are coming, including the 24h :)

  • yorch sincla

This is the best sim today without a doubt. “Basic” content is almost perfect (i love all the cars) and then you have Alex tracks (Putnam, Vanport, Floripa…), VLM tracks, some IZOD tracks (search ronnie82 conversiones). And now we have the Nords.

  • Gerald

Simbin’s version is CAD based, this version is “eye” based. So not best version.

  • Gerald

LOL. Come on it’s really not that hard. Of course it’s one of the only tracks I play and I have spent over a year customizing my own version of the Simbin version but I’m hardly hardcore and I play with dual-analog sticks so I don’t think it’s that hard.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Yeah I guess I must be stupid then ;) I haven’t done a huge amount of laps on it because it’s not my style of circuit. So with that in mind it might be that I never truly learn it. I can live with that.

Not in terms of accuracy, no. But it’s still a very high-quality track that is fun to drive.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001061294656 Rhys Gardiner

This is correct. Tourist short uses the Steilstrecke, which is a bloody terrifying piece of road… the only straight on a racetrack that I fear. O_O

  • http://www.facebook.com/lasse.j.ougaard Lasse Jakobi Ougaard

Ok thanks for the explanation. I’ve seen the Steilstrecke in real life, and that thing is fucking steep (hence the name…)

Do they even use it IRL anymore? It seems very narrow, very bad surfaced and quite dangerous. (Well, even narrower and more dangerous than the rest of the track that is..)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001061294656 Rhys Gardiner

As far as I’m aware, the Steilstrecke is now closed off and overgrown. The world was not ready…
