Game Stock Car 2012 – Mini Surprise Revealed

Reiza Studios have released renders of all cars their Game Stock Car 2012 title will offer, revealing one last addition to the pack.

Despite being a free update for all owners of the original Game Stock Car title, the update is packed with new content, introducing the 2012 versions of the Peugeot 408 & Chevrolet Sonic race cars. Adding to that, the update also introduces the Chevrolet Camaro SS both as road-going and safety car version.

The update also adds the Autódromo Internacional de Tarumã, a brand new track alongside updates for the existing tracks.

But Reiza isn’t done just yet as one last surprise has been revealed to make it into the update – The Mini Cooper race car that can be seen hinted at in the new renders below.

The 2012 update for Game Stock Car 2012 will be available later this month.

What’s not to like here? :D

  • Alejandro Gorgal

That’s not exactly subtle :D Looking forward to it.

There is nothing Mini about this game. :P

  • Nathan Robinson

Oh no, game stock car is at the top of the news. Montoya must be under the employment of Reiza and is using his site to promote this fantastic simulation. We’re on to you :P

In all seriousness, I love this sim and ran the first season at RD. Hopefully a second season goes up in the future. Thanks for all your effort Reiza.

Shameless promotion, just shameless !   Hehe :)       This must be a great sim to do a league season with though.

    Hehe
We need to find eachother in Leagues as the public server isnt that active. And thats indeed a shame to miss out some great racing with these cars. :)

  • Ricoo

Nice, soon a lot of fun. :)

I’m having a blast with GSC, double thumbs up for the updates that makes this an even better deal.

And it’s about to get even better !

  • Theroro29

Yeah a front wheel drive car!!!!!! with great physics

we could compare with Fiat 500 Abarth from Netkar Pro

Hey guys! How can I set the cockpit camera like the iRacing one?

I would like to see the body of the car moves over kerbs, and my horizon stazionary; and disable the shaking at high speed.

  • Marco Conti

I just read at RD that in the new 2012 GSD they have eliminated the Vintage F1 (AKA Formula Armaroli). They apparently could not make it work with the new lineup.

personally, it is my favorite car in the game and I use it all the time in SP so I am going to have to have 2 installations of GSD to keep all the cars. Reiza also said that if you want to install the car in the new version you can, but it will run in the same session as the F3 car.

  • Chris A

I’m pretty sure that’s not official and they are working through some options.

  • Marco Conti

The reiza guy made it sound pretty official but he did say that they are hoping to reintroduce it at some point in the future. He was pessimistic about being reintroduced in GSD but he said that they are aiming to use a version of it for the upcoming Sim named after the driver starting with “Se” and ending with “nna”

If Reiza was just fortunate enough to put their hands on some laser-scanning gear and using the new rF2 engine for development they would undoubtedly become the strongest simracing developers on this earth!

  • Adrian Herrera

This is what Reiza said at RD, it’s not gone forever, you can still use it:

“The Formula Classic will not be included in the main install and will not be supported in GSC 2012, for several reasons. Something had to give, and the fact we also had issues with the Formula Classic which meant we could not bring it up to par as we did with the other cars without a substancial rework, made it the one to go.

We love that car as much as anyone, so it was not an easy decision to make. We´ll all just have to wait while we cook up something kinda similar, featuring a certain driver with a bright yellow helmet… And everything else that will come with that

Last but not least, the Formula Classic will remain available as a separate DLC, if people are prepared to accept it being a split series with the Formula 3, they will be able to run it just as you do now in the original GSC. ”

“You should be able to have two parallel installs, original GSC / GSC 2012, or even two GSC 2012 installs as you wish. Just have two equal copies of your activated GSC.exe and GSC.ini in both installs. There might even be a simpler solution, just working target folders through the config.ini file. Havent really explored much there yet, but there are options.

Worth pointing out that if you want to keep Stock Car 2010 or the replays you´ve had with it, you´ll need to keep the original – they wont be compatible with GSC 2012.

Everyone should consider this is a very extensive update – it´s far more than a simple carset, it´s almost a new game. Hence there are a couple of minor technical drawbacks in fitting everything together with the existing platform.”

Laser scanning is waste of money for their purpose. They do a great job by modeling from scratch.

Most people who are bitter towards laser-scanned tracks are because them can’t afford to pay 15 dollars for one track. Last time I checked many are willing as we can see the user-base in iRacing expanding. I’m one who knows how beneficial laser-scanned tracks are to the SIMULATION and I’m than happy to pay 15 BUCKS for one track! Mind you I’ve got ALL road tracks in iRacing and over 90% of ovals. Keep you bitter mouth to those who like you can’t or won’t have sim tracks!

  • Big Ron

We already discussed what laser scanning does: it gives a copy of the moment where the track was scanned, nothing more. A lot of real race drivers mentioned, that tracks are changing all the time, especially over seasons with different climatic condition. Some bumps come, some go and often the pavement will be reworked. So you need to spend another 10000s of dollar to redo your scanning. Good environment artists are capable to do great track reproduction without any scanning and it saves a lot of money for the developer.

Since the majority of racing game players are not real race drivers and just th minority ever has driven on race tracks by their own most player wouldn´t even notice if every centimeter of the bumps is modeled correctly or not.

My concern isn´t about the money users have to spend in iRacing to get tracks (it´s the concept of iRacing, nothing more) since Assetto Corsa and other games will give you laser scanned tracks as basic package without paying that much money or paying even less money than in iRacing. My concern is about people reading the word “laser scanned” and automatically think that it is more realistic than a track done traditionally. Laser scanning is by no meaning the only method to get realistic track reproductions.

Another one fooled by the hype and bullshit fed to them by iracing. What happens when they resurface the track you just paid $15 for eh???? Well?? Hhhmm???

What the hell are you simulating then????? Not very much at all apart from the $15 going missing from your bank simualtion. The track you just bought is now obselete according to your way of thinking………………you are no longer SIMULATING anything!!?!?!

Keep your asinine elitist comments to yourself.

I think most people can decide for themselves whether they think it’s worth it or not. I have all the content available and I’m a member since 2008 and never regretted any purchase.

    Well?? Hhhmm???

You get the updated version for free if you had already purchased the original and also get to keep the original version too.

    Case in point – Daytona.
