Game Stock Car 2012 – Mini Challenge DLC Available

Reiza Studios have released the final content addition to their Game Stock Car 2012 title as the Mini Challenge car is now available for download.

The car rounds out the extensive content update Game Stock Car received with the 2012 content pack that is available for free for all owners of Game Stock Car.

The update that includes the Mini can be downloaded from the Game Stock Car website linked below.

Those who haven’t given Game Stock Car 2012 a spin yet should download the base version here as it also serves as a 60-minute demo of the full title. To celebrate the launch of the Mini DLC, Reiza has also lowered the price of Game Stock Car 2012 to just $19.95.

Below’s a video of the new car in action, courtesy of HybridTheory1985.

Didn’t like it so much… Maybe with more time…

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1711429307 Chris Wright

Did you run it with ABS activated, as recommended by Reiza?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1711429307 Chris Wright

A simply stunning addition to an already fantastic title. The Mini takes a little bit of adjustment, but once you’re in the zone, there’s no denying it’s awesomeness, or the growing feeling that Reiza has effectively become the new Papyrus. The only thing GSC lacks is more familiar circuits for those of us living outside of Brazil.

I’m absolutely addicted. It’s a great little car.

at the first look…the physics not true at all…in brakingzone
every time the car become a light tail and it oversteers if u dont push
the throttle….other one is u can drive in corner with 3 wheels….

u can believe me…i was sitting front seat passenger, driver was a
rallycrosscar guy….also he knows what he do. it was a awesome
    experience.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1711429307 Chris Wright

Would again ask if you were running it with ABS activated, as per Reiza’s advice?

      • Richard Hessels

That’s true, these cars need to run with ABS on.
        Just like the real car.
Suddenly it becomes a much better car to drive.

      • Anonymous

Yes when i made this vid. Reiza didnt told us yet about the ABS. :) With ABS on its indeed a even better car. Less locking up the rears. :)

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1711429307 Chris Wright

They did sort of announce it, but not everyone reads Facebook and the Racedepartment forums etc., so it’s not surprising a lot of people missed out to start with.

      • Anonymous

I do. But they did it 2 hours after the release and yeah at that moment i was already ticking of laps with the car and uploading a vid :D

    • Niels Heusinkveld

Any front wheel drive car meant to go around a circuit fast will lift the inside rear wheel when braking+cornering. At a constant cornering speed, the wheel just about is on the road, and when accelerating out of the corner, its a 4 wheel car. With so much weight on the front, braking can be oversteery as the brake balance is set for ABS (which the cars use in the real series). Still, lift off oversteer or slight braking oversteer is another characteristic of fast front wheel drive cars. You can either go mad in it as its quite drivable ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dr2Ogt4D-WA ) or be smooth. Once you are ‘slow’ with the inputs and drive smoothly, it settles down and comes to life in my opinion.

There is of course the problem with all rFactor based sims that a tire leaves skid marks and smoke even when it is very lightly loaded, making inside rear lockups seem like a much bigger problem than they really are.

      • Anonymous

ok niels after that video…that looks like a MINI…
for rF i got also a Mini Cooper from NLC Group…physics by weisschon…do you know him?

  • Anonymous

What ? And it’s still free ? This is outrageous !

Muito obrigado Reiza ! You are an inspiration for all the sim builders out there.
    Respect.

    • Anonymous

And they dropped the retail price of the full game also. :)

  • sebastian.saischowa

“Reiza Studios have released the final content addition to their Game Stock Car 2012 title”
Cascaval Circuit would be the last, which is still in production.

  • Bryan Gunsher

Pretty disappointing to me..I just ran the minis. These guys do much better work than this.

    The outside model looks good.

Cockpit view there is no hood..NoneThe car starts at the firewall..There’s no front bumper, suspension or hood in cockpit mode.

As in pull the car up to a wall like you want set your bumper against
it. Now the wall is right there against the windshield..No front end at
all. This will be messed up for close racing.

To me it just isn’t right from the cockpit view.In this day and age all cars should be modeled fully.

I was so looking forward to this add on.

I know it’s free and all but I would have rather paid for it to have it
    done properly.

I’m sure some of you guys will flame me but thats my feelings.

    • Anonymous

I would. But i find it hard to understand what you are talking about. ;)

      • Bryan Gunsher

You’re not understanding what I’m talking about. Put yourself in the cockpit view. What do you see? No hood. Pull up to a wall and place what would be your bumper against the wall. There’s no gap between the wall and the car where the front clip would be. The wall is right up against the firewall of the car. The firewall is where the windshield is and the motor ends. The whole front end of the car is missing in cockpit mode. The dash looks good but the rest is terrible. I hope you understand what I’m getting at.

      • http://twitter.com/nickovey nickovey

Not sure why you’ve made this out to be such a huge deal, but it really isn’t – infact it’s a non-issue. Here’s why: originally the car model did include the hood in the cockpit view, however with the eye point and curvature of the hood what they are you never saw it. Just like in the real car, or indeed any small road car.

Therefore it was removed as things you don’t ever see are a waste of resources… As for suspension, well, you do realise this is a Mini Cooper, not an open wheel car right? Again, you’d never see it. And actually the front bumper is viewable in the cockpit, technically, as it’s the “front wing” damage instance and that’s how the game handles those. And if you pull up to a wall nose first the bumper hits the wall, as it should, not the firewall… I don’t understand why you’ve said that at all to be honest, as it’s simply untrue.

      • David Wright

I drive a Mini Cooper and I can see the bonnet/hood. The collision issue (if correct) is arguably a more important issue.

      • Bryan Gunsher

Thanks at least now you acknowledge what I’m saying..you do need to see the hood/bonnet on the car just like on the real one. And yes the collision is not correct. Later when I get done at work I can post a screen shot showing what I’m saying. It’s on my gaming rig so I have to wait until later to get the images.

      • http://twitter.com/nickovey nickovey

There is a damage feeler as it uses the external collision model. It’s possible that you found a hole in a trackside wall collision model or something I suppose, but everything behaves as it should just driving straight out of the pitbox into the pitwall…

Enabling the hood in the cockpit is a simple matter of adding a line in the gen file, I’d wager the cup seating position is several inches lower than the road car though which explains why you can’t see it… cos it’s a *very* accurate model.

      • Bryan Gunsher

How about letting us know how to add the line to the gen file so those of us who would like to see the hood can. I know you’re defending your work, I guess since you have not said if you are a developer..You talk like one. But I’m now hesitant to ever buy another title from Rieza. Not adding it sounds more like an excuse than a real reason..Look at every other sim out there..You get to see the hood. Just knowing I’m driving a car without a front end takes way all realism and fun for me. I’ll pay for this..I’m happy to pay for quality content. This to me is lacking in a big way.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Geez Bryan. You’ve made a point and now it seems you’re on a mission to get it enforced or acknowledged by Reiza that they’ve done something wrong.
They’ve explained to you that the collision detection is correct and the car’s firewall doesn’t touch the wall so not being able to see the hood seems to only be a massive issue for you.
So unless you’re 6’7″ it seems you don’t see the hood in real racing Mini’s even though you do in the standard production car.
Again, that’s been explained. This hood exclusion does not in any way lessen the credibility of Reiza.
You’ve made it work for you so just let it go because its starting to sound like trolling now.

      • Bryan Gunsher

I really dig the game..Sorry I came across like I was after anyone..If I didn’t already like the game I wouldn’t have cared. But either way I didn’t mean to disrupt the site or the game. I was just venting because i was really looking forward to the minis and the lack of seeing a hood was a let down. For me it’s kind of a pet peeve. It’s a big part of what makes a sim for me for..As in the whole cockpit view and the hood is included…I would have thought more people liked to have the hood in the view..I know it used to be that way..I didn;t mean cause any problems.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

I didn’t even notice it was missing until you mentioned it. I guess i’m used to some cockpit views being like that. Admittedly I do like to at least see the tip of the bonnet as it makes for a bit more accurage placing of the car. But in the Mini’s they are so small (the bonnet) that it wasn’t an issue. That’s just me though.
At least you got yours sorted so it looks how you want it, so that’s a good thing right ? It’s back to being a sim again :)

      • Bryan Gunsher

If everything works correct out of the pit into the wall how come we see no damage. The hood should be popped up due to the impact but it’s not there.

      • http://twitter.com/nickovey nickovey

It may look like the bulkhead is flat up against the wall from inside the cockpit, but it isn’t…

      • Bryan Gunsher

It maybe a non issue to you but it’s very important to me as a simmer. You can see the hood when sitting in a real mini..go sit in one. I will post a screen shot showing what I’m talking about as there is no bumper or a damage feeler. At least not on my screen..Are you one of the developers.? Have you tried what I said..If so you would see what I mean..Without it it’s not a sim..It’s arcade. I bet other feel the same way..Remember NASCAR Sim Racing and how the same issue was a big deal to the community. This is the same..Maybe the target audience for this title is more arcade but for sims it need to be there.

      • Richard Hessels

A racing mini has the driver quite a bit lower and further to back.
        Go sit in one.

      • Bryan Gunsher

To me that just doesn;t matter. If you lift your head in the car you would see the hood. Just like if you raise the seat height in the game. Either way if not’s important to you fine..It is too me..I’ve figured out how to add it in to the game. If anyone wants to know just let me know and I’ll help you add it.

      • Niels Heusinkveld

I respect that everybody has their own list of important things in sims, but I really REALLY don’t understand the problem of not seeing something that you don’t see in the real car. I’m sure Nick (and I think most people) kind of agree here. As said you sit low in these cars and simply can’t see the damn thing! :-)

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Y’know you may or may not have a legitimate argument about the view, but saying that because they didn’t add a visible bonnet (hood) turns it from sim to arcade is just complete nonsense.

You can be annoyed with it but at least keep some perspective.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1711429307 Chris Wright

I’m suprised you find this important in comparison to the rest of the package, which is supelatively great. I certainly haven’t experienced the issues you describe – too busy driving when I can.

      • Bryan Gunsher

Without it I do not feel like I’m driving a real car..I never drive from and outside camera..Always use cockpit..Thats why I like having it.
The environment looks great. Physics are good too. But this one thing is a deal closer for me if it’s not there. It is a sim and it should have this. Otherwise to me it’s less than a sim. They did the same to the Stock Cars when 2012 came out. The original version had the Stock Cars done right with having the ability to see the hoods in cockpit mode. It’s too bad they remove things that to me made this a really great sim.
It would be cool if the guy who posted earlier could just tell me the line of code to add to see it..

      • Richard Hessels

It’s quite rare to see the hood from a race car, you sit quite a bit lower and further back than the original production model, for lower center of gravity and better weight distribution.
Most drivers can just look over the steeringwheel not much more.
So you can’t really see the hood, especially with wedge shaped fronts like those of the stockcars.

      • Bryan Gunsher

I understand but if you raise your seat height you should be able to see the hood just like in real life.
Either way I’ve figured out how to add the hood to the cockpit view. If anyone would like to add it to their game let me know and I’ll help you. It is just one line of code in the .GEN file.

      • Max Maier

I would like to see the hood. Whats the line please?

      • Bryan Gunsher

Backup and replace the original with this one.

      • Max Maier

        Thank you!

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1711429307 Chris Wright

I don’t know if you drive for real, but I wonder how long you spend staring at the hood when behind the wheel? Quite honestly I havr no idea if I can see the hood from any of our vehicles.

      • Rob Taylor

Its not something I paid any attention to before but since getting a new car and not having the hood in view it does seem a tad odd initially.

Anyway tried dlc last night and they were absolutely great fun highly recommend folk try them out (just alter your cam file if u really need the hood).

      • Bryan Gunsher

Enough!!!!! I do drive.. I DON’T stare at the hood..I am aware of it at all times. Are you one of the developers? If you are you’ve just driven a customer away. Good job!!!..Quite honestly I don;t know why this a so wrong for me to like to see the hood. Again are you a developer or a fan boy..Cause this is gotten ridiculous!! F1 can you remove me and my posts from your site..?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1711429307 Chris Wright

My goodness me you’re getting upset about this Bryan. I was just making the point that you don’t focus on the hood when driving. No I’m not a developer and much too long in the tooth to be a fan boy :-) Like others on here, I’m struggling to see why this is such a problem for you. But then, it’s up to you what to like/not like and to each his own I guess.

Love these Mini cars. I love the game, just wish i could find more tracks to put in the game. Even if there not official tracks from Reiza, or if someone knows the secret to make the rfactor tracks work in GameStockCar2012.

I have played around with the demo and couldn’t resist buying it, especially for 17 euro. What a great piece of car this is too, loving everything they made and definitely will have fun racing with some series sometime soon :)
