Game Stock Car 2012 – Mini Challenge Reality Check

Frank Alexandre has put together a great reality check video, showing off Reiza Studios’ upcoming Mini Challenge car.

The video shows a lap at Londrina side by side with real racing footage.

The Mini will round out Reiza’s extensive free content pack that was released last month. As usual, Reiza is going great lengths to make the car as accurate as possible, efforts that are clearly paying off as proven not just by this video but also by their telemetry readouts.

The car will be available soon, an exact release date has not yet been announced. For more info the free 2012 update pack for Game Stock Car, please click here.

I think there is a bug with the posting times, this article says it was posted 1 day and 9 hours ago if it was posted Monday morning, just two hours ago at the time I’m commenting ;)

I really like Reiza’s work they do a fantastic job with the physics , one thing that always seems off to me is the scale of the tracks and maybe the colours.

To be specifc i think its the size of the curbing and the armco/tire walls they seem to make look rather chunky compared to real life or other games.

Still they do an excellent job with RF1 engine its very impressive.

If these guys can make a game this fantastic using the rFactor 1 engine, imagine if they ever will use the rFactor 2 engine once thats all done and ready to go, it will be unbelievable. I pray that their Senna game will use the rF2 engine.

It would be nice, but I believe they have heavily modified the gMotor2 engine and switching to rF2 would mean to lose all their hard work…

Even for the Senna game, same engine????

By the same principle, yes… They have already started working on it for quite a while, and rFactor2 still is in beta so no way they’ll be licensing their engine for a little while, meaning we’ll have to wait at least a year or two before seeing games based on ISI new engine…

I know the telemetry was posted up a little while ago, but it’s still cool to see that when you pause this video at almost any given point – the speedo’s on both cars are almost identical

I think the main issue with using the RF1 engine for the Senna game would be a career mode, it seems like it would take a severe amount of modding to get that to work, unless it was a few simple championships that the end user would have to string together themselves.
While RF1 is a great basis/platform for a sim, it doesn’t seem to lend itself well to the “gamey” aspects of a game, you know like cutscenes, movies or anyway to tell a story. That said, Rezia could forgo the game aspects to avoid all that, but then it really should be named “Senna, The Sim”
I’m not entirely sure how versatile RF1 is though, GTL has more of a gamey feel to it, with a few movies and progression based aspects here and there, so it could be possible. But it was still bland as a game (not as a sim before any one assumes).

Reiza isn’t using rF1 as is, but licensed the engine source code I believe, so they can use whatever part of gMotor2 they chose and program the rest on their own.

Yeah, I guess that’s right and largely possible. This also makes me wonder how much Gmotor (if any) is powering simbin’s Lizard engine, which it seems they are using for RR2.

Pretty disappointing to me..I just ran the minis. These guys do much better work than this.

    The outside model looks good.

Cockpit view there is no hood..None

As in pull the car up to a wall like you want set your bumper against
it. Now the wall is right there against the windshield..No front end at
all. This will be messed up for close racing.

To me it just isn’t right from the cockpit view.

I was so looking forward to this add on.

I know it’s free and all but I would have rather paid for it to have it
    done properly.

I’m sure some of you guys will flame me but thats my feelings.

at the first look…the physics not true at all…in brakingzone every time the car become a light tail and it oversteers if u dont pull the throttle….other one is u can drive in corner with 3 wheels….

u can believe me…i was sitting front seat passenger, driver was a rallycrosscar guy….also he knows what he do. it was a awesome experience.
