Virtua_LM has released new previews of another stunning track creation for rFactor, showing us new shots of the Japanese Fuji Speedway in late 80s specification.
Located near the famous Mount Fuji in Oyama, Japan, Fuji Speedway was opened in 1963. The track was a popular venue for sports car races as the track was part of the FIA World Sports Car Championship for Group C prototypes from 1982 to 1988.
Even though the track was slowed down with two chicanes during the 80s, speeds on the track remained very high thanks to the 1.5 kilometer main straght – The longest in motorsports.

Good news, been wondering what ever happened to this track. I remember to have seen it on rfc a while back.

+1 NightSt@lk3r
The one that begins with ‘Le’ and ends with ‘Mans’.
Fuji is considered a rather dull track by most racing drivers I heard mentioning it. It doesn’t deserve Virtua_LM’s efforts, imo.

yes the newly designed track is extremly boring, but we are talking about the old one, which is brilliant!

I’d rather like to see a modern Le Mans version for rfactor than some wayne track

So I take it the reason I bought rFactor, Prototype C, is no more?

I do believe the mod is being made by different people.

This was always one of my favorite tracks on Gran Turismo 3 and 4. This looks stunning! I hope a chicane and chicane-free layout will be available!

Any news on the mod, GTX5? Talking about Fuji and 3 years.. GTX5 was originally going to be released for F199 or F199-02, I think they began sometime in 2003..

Plus it’s where those amazing prototypes that they’re working at used to race.
The track was at 95% progress in rfactorcentral for quite a while, judging by that I dare to guess that they decided to improve it further. The pics seem to indicate that it was worth the wait.

No, Alex and a small group of guys are still working on it.

Yeah… I’d noticed that as well.
This is the problem with Virtua_LM mods. The previews will never fail to amaze, but holding your breath is a bad idea. You’ll die of asphyxiation loooooooong before they actually release the damn thing.

Virtua LM in many cases produces better content than “professional” outfits.
