FSONE Spa Francorchamps 2009 – Previews

International Pro-Modding is not just working on all cars and drivers of the 2009 Formula One season for rFactor, they’re also bringing the Belgian Spa Francorchamps track to the simulation.

Back in 2007, the Belgian track was majorly overhauled, including a new pit building as well as a changed layout for the famous Bus Stop and La Source corners.

The FSONE version is modelled after the 2009 Grand Prix and will incorporate all these changes as you can see on the preview shots below.

Let’s hope this means the best track ever (yup Belgian chauvinism :p) will get at last a decent simracing counterpart.

    Looks nice.

Looks good. It’ll be great to have this for the Endurance Series mod. Thanks in advance for this one.

  • Ivo Simons

Would be nice to know how much cars the pit can handle.

Boring, boring F1 – if you want to do something worthwhile then why not recreate a proper racing circuit, like Spa in 1967 ?

It’s not even like modern F1 mods can have any claim to realism – no-one knows how they drive apart from the plastic faced characterless androids who pilot them in that mind numbing procession which passes for racing nowadays.

IPM can do whatever the heck they like. The mod’s been in development for the past year, why are you knocking them now?
Oh, and there’s already a 67 Spa out, for your information…

Well, I think everyone has to agree about the fact today’s F1 drivers do not really have a character…

    Why?

  • AndreasT

I’d say it’s neither a fact nor does anyone >have< to agree. At least, I don't. BTT: does anyone know if this will be made 100% from scratch?

F1 is pretty sterile nowadays. It is way too much commercialized. Drivers need to show up at a lot of PR-activities and if you listen carefullty they all say the same thing every time. “It’s just friday” “We need to improve this and that.” We had some troubles…” There aren’t a lot of drivers who just say what they think. And that’s a shame because it’s boring. In the past real race cars were driven by real racing drivers, today’s drivers seem to care more about how they look and how attractive they are….

I don’t want to bash F1 or something, I do love the racing of course!

  • carbonfibre

Aye, sterile is the right word. Although today’s race at Shanghai was actually pretty eventful and exciting for once with some very edge-of-seat moments.

My interest in F1 has been dying for the last few years so I’m following FIA GT1 now. It’s a welcome change in format and the sound is just awesome. It should be on my TV though, obviously not enough fan base yet. It’s easier to support Matech as a team too, I don’t know any of the drivers yet.
