I think it just depends on the purpose. It makes it misleading to the average person. Sure most of us looking at this trailer realize that there’s a lot color correct/motion blur added in post but to the laymen it looks like what the actual game would look like.

I think it just depends on the purpose. It makes it misleading to the average person. Sure most of us looking at this trailer realize that there’s a lot color correct/motion blur added in post but to the laymen it looks like what the actual game would look like.

I could understand if it was heated and argumentative but it isn’t. Everyone is calmy discussing their opinions and respecting the others.

carbonfibre: It’s only because I admire machinima so much that I put such importance to criticism, there’s no double standards with me, most time I’m just the lone forerunner here, but in the communities I’m from it’s just not good enough to write two words and be done with it.I just assumed it’s a general theme in this community (being racing fans lol) that we don’t have the time for histrionics and should just show off the actual content, but forgive me I wasn’t here at the start.
Maybe I will make a proper video for rFactor one day but since this community already half-disregarded a similar effort by a good buddy of mine it probably won’t be up to the same emotional standard as this F1 promo or stabiz’ releases. I only know about technical standards, so I’m sorry if I just can’t pick up the same vibes as other people when I say what I think and it upsets/confuses people.

Well I’m just not sure when it became a thing to worry about the critique of the work put into the video itself.
Some people spend time to make these videos and they make it the way they want it and release it when they are happy with it. I’ve done this in the past with a rendered video I made a while back with a Star Wars theme (yeah it was a bit silly).
Others can just fraps some gameplay, jam it into Windows Movie Maker and throw it out there in order to show us what they want us to see. Ive done that too. I have a few examples of that on YouTube.

To me, either are fine. I don’t think it matters what goes into the video. Spend as much or as little time on it as you need. As long as it does what it is intended to do, thats enough.
I dont think we should have an audience that a) expects a whole production on a video and b) should even be offering critique on it. Complimenting it on what it is, thats normal, but going on about if you personally prefer motion blur or other post fx etc. Whats that all about ? The video was not made for the eyes of an individual and if the author is happy with it and it gets the point across, thats all that counts.

Make ‘em how you want. Go the Speilberg route or quick’n'dirty, both are just fine.
We’re sim racers, not a panel of video judges :) I don’t think people need to be told how to make their own videos. It’s like telling someone how to take a screengrab.

Fair enough I will accept the explaination, however i would add that the people that produce these “works of art” imo are showing there true intelect. It sooo easy to produce a “press record and re-play” button and post that, however imo its sooo boring.. I think F1 or racing in general is real life drama, so why not enbelish what we feel in our hearts and show this through this medium.. Its a message we are trying to send. and also a Feeling.. I seriously get emotional watching well produced promos. Its phsycs me up and I always have a feeling of “give me more”.. All i ask is please repect the work produce and just enjoy it for what its worth.. ENTERTAINMENT…
