FrexGP SimWheel – Video Review

Posted on August 25th, 2008 in

Roughly two weeks ago I´ve posted a first video of the FrexGP SimWheel Force Feedback. Now, Darin & Shaun of insidesimracing.tv had the chance to test the $2000+ wheel.

Without taking too much away of the video review below, the SimWheel Force Feedback is certainly the most impressive, complicated, strongest and expensive wheel the sim racing community has ever seen.

    That thing is insane

where is the point in making a wheel with such a strong force feedback, if the g25’s feedback on “medium”-mode is already stronger than in reality (no need to mention the “full”-mode…)?

is this made for training your arms to become a professional weight-lifter to support your country in the next olympics or is this supposed to be seriously realistic??

$2000!!!!! Now that’s a deal!!! Just kidding. If only I could live without the guilt of wasting my money on it, then I might buy it. Time to get a G25.

Wouldn’t dream of spending $2000 on someting like that.
So much more I could do with that money. How many G25’s can you get for that ?
For a bit of extra FFB its not worth it imo.
Nice wheel, don’t get me wrong, but Shauns list of cons are a real off-putter.

i’ll stick with me G25 , thanks

The point of this wheel is not “bit of extra ff”, but it’s more fidelity in ff effects – listening a song with lots of dynamics in it (difference between loudest and most silent part of the song) – to hear it properly, you need high power amplifier. G25 lacks dynamics, if the force is increased over 30 – 40 % it just delivers sort of constant-strength force. And also it lacks the speed of the real steering wheels, it just cannot counter steer itself appropriately fast.

sorry lovretta, Im still not sold on it.
I don’t need more accurate effects that badly.

Sorry, i can’t resist leaving a stupid comment  . But seriously…Why the hell is he using speed sensitivity on rFactor? How can you actually judge the response when you don’t even have perfect control over your inputs? I don’t know about the rest, but rFactor is automatically out of the testing list if he uses speed sensitivity. I apologize for the senseless prattle.

    Cheers

Hi F1Racer! I totally understand I also wont buy one :) Its just too pricey for me. Heck, its almost more expensive then my car  Even if it were cheaper, alot cheaper I doubt that in long time I would buy such a thing. G25 does it for me also (and does it very good). I just wanted to point out what (i think) this wheel should bring to “us”
