The primary reason as to why he’s wearing gloves is more likely to be to preserve the suede on his wheel than anything else; it *will* end up becoming ruined if you don’t.

I can’t believe you lot :) What next, racing suits and helmets ? Oh I’ve seen sim racers with helmets on too.
Is there no dignity ?

I can understand the sweaty hands thing, but I just get on with it and deal with it. Mine don’t sweat too much anyway.
For people that spend hours every night sim-racing I suppose its ok to avoid blisters etc. But normal gloves would do that too.
Each to their own I guess. I can just about force myself to wear a baseball cap so I can attach the iTracker pickups to it.

BTW, if you look around at SafeRacer you will find some real cheap gloves but be careful because the cheap ones are crew gloves not driving gloves. They are for working on the car not driving the car.

I already had gloves from real racing so it isn’t like I went out of my way to be a dork. hahaha. Anyways, these gloves aren’t cheap but you can get some for as cheap as $49 USD. Maybe cheaper. The more expensive ones breath better which is good in a hot car but for simracing the cheapest you can find is probably fine.

I kinda like them.

And most people use them when sim-racing because of sweaty hands (so do I)

That is one nice wheel. I would really like to buy that. Unfortunately, I race with a wireless xbox 360 controller on my pc. It’s pretty crappy. I did buy a Logitech MOMO Force Feedback Racing Wheel, but I was completely unimpressed by the build quality and returned it. I also wanted to buy a Logitech g25, but I want something with professional quality like what you might find in a racing cabinet at an arcade. Something build with a ridiculous amount of quality. This might just be the answer for me.

I wear gloves when racing. I got sick of having blisters and calluses on my hands. I spend a total of about 2 hours every Tuesday night racing in the league I am in. Do that a few weeks in a row and you realize how handy gloves are. I don’t bother for short sessions though. I sure as hell wouldn’t wear them in a video though. hahaha.

If you you’re alone, no one see what you wear, you can even put leather S/M-gear on if you like to.

The wheel, and indeed the whole setup from Frex there, looks really cool.
But you couldn’t pay me to wear racing gloves to play a sim :)
Thats a bit too high on the “you look like a prat”-meter for my liking. No offence meant. Its just not for me.

But really diggin’ the wheel though. Frex always seems to bring quality stuff that really looks durable.
Maybe one day I`ll invest if and when my G25 packs-up.
