Forza Motorsport 4 – New Nürburgring Footage & Comparison

The iconic Nordschleife was the venue of the Nürburgring 24h race last weekend and while the real cars were circulating on track, Turn 10 showed off their upcoming Forza Motorsport 4 title for Xbox 360.

Below is a video with plenty of new gameplay footage, showing off the 2012 BMW M5 F10 on the Nürburging Grand Prix circuit. Gearheads will instantly spot that while the BMW is an all-new car, Forza Motorsport 4 still uses the pre-2009 version of the Nürburgring with the old main grandstand and the missing rollercoaster.

The video also includes a very interesting comparison with Forza Motorsport 3 as we get to check out the ring in both titles side by side, unfortunately we don’t get a glimpse of the Nordschleife yet as only the Grand Prix circuit is used.

Forza Motorsport 4 will be released on October 11 in the US and October 14 in Europe, the new title will bring over 600 cars from 80 manufacturers, five brand new tracks and and an improved tire model thanks to a partnership with Pirelli.

We need real news, not like this …

  • Steve Farrell

That looks like real news to me.

  • Oggy

Where is the gear changing animations?

  • Hompe

Thats probably the Bmw M5 with paddles on the steering wheel :)

  • Ricoo

That’s what can be called a serious improvement.

you need to stop complaining about everything…

I dont know why they use the “fast” last chicane that is used only on vln layout. The gp layout has the “slow” chicane that has 90° corners. I also prefer the “slow” chicane because it’s more challenging

  • Randall M Kipker

Funny, I think the faster is more challenging as it encourages you to go faster and calls you out when to fast…!

Other than the visual rendering/lighting improvement from FM3, the track itself is still the same version.  It’s still based on the older pre-2008/2009 track.  Although fortunatley this applies to mostly trackside objects- the addition of roof to all the stands in the fromt straight, the roller-coaster etc, this version still suffers from the same shortcoming as the one in FM3.

What I’m seeing is the lack of perceived elevation and that some of the corners- the hairpin at Dunlop Curve just seems too gradual compared to the RL version.  The same goes for the Schumacher “S” which in reality is sharper than what’s here.  Basically it’s the same as FM3.

  • Meton Sanga

firstly, the trees are not all in the same position, secondly, elevation will look less depending on FOV, thirdly, the schumacher s is there, they just not using the s…. the ring has 2 chicanes at that point, the s is where you see those tyre barriers

  • mykem

The Schumacher “S” is there, it’s just a bit too wide (as is the Dunlop Curve hairpin).  This kind of thing has always been a problem with the Forza series.

If you want to see the newer virtual version of the track on console and what I believe is the best (plus the fact that it’s connected to the Nordschleife giving you both the 24hr layout as well as the VLN layout), look no further than GT5.

You need to take your hat off.  It’s summer time.

  • Meton Sanga

lol so smooth… sorry, tried it dont like it

And one thing to notice is that the chicane used is the wrong one for the GP Track !!!
On the GP track (as shown) it should use the the first chicane not the second. Only for the VLN layout (Full GP track+Nords) they use that second chicane.

And this want to be a simulation… :-$
