    Diromo: Take that SimBin

That’s like saying ‘Take that Simbin’ at the release of the latest Super Mario. Totally not relevant…

Thanks to the royal mail strikes and game.co.uk sending it early had the game since Tuesday and it is great. Great detail in the cars and the physics… maybe everyone wont like them, but for a console “sim” it’s one of (if not the) best there is.

A lot better physics than NFS Shift anyway.

If SimBin had the Microsoft’s Millions of Dollars that Turn 10 had we would probably get a Sim that would be almost perfect but nonetheless Forza 3 is definitely the best Console Sim Ever and I am very much enjoying it’s excellent presentation but it would have been really nice if we had a support for different Excellent Steering wheels which Forza 3 doesn’t.

It was irony. You are right about this situation and I’m just jealous, because PC isn’t in developers target

Great game. This is the real race experience Shift wanted to reach but it never came close. About physics they are great and very simlike. I have driven a lot of the cars that are in the game even my own civic with the same specs and it is al very close to real. The only thing i need is gforces.

Are you suggesting Forza is ‘arcade’ racing? I don’t think console necessarily equals arcade. It looks pretty sweet to me (SRT are quite positive about it). Almost makes me wish I had an Xbox.

I think it’s awesome that there’s a growing market of people that appreciate more realistic car handling. I reckon it’s a natural progression from the decision to buy a wheel. Shame most ’sim’ makers forget to put a game around their physics.

I have this game, should be called Forza 2.1 rather then 3 though.

The physics seem almost identical to FM2, and all the cars feel like they have air suspension which gives a poor connection to the road, if you jump a car or go over a bump the car instantly recovers, the suspension doesn’t rebound at all.

8 car grids around places like Silverstone GP, Suzuka and Le Mans makes for a lonely time.

Nice graphics though, but the cockpit view is poor in many ways, and the online side of the game is limited with no public custom lobbies anymore, instead there’s a diluted down MS controlled matchmaking system. The FM2 online system was far better.

Rfactor/GTR/LFS/Iracing etc have nothing to worry about, even NFS shift gives a more convincing driving experience. Race Pro has better better physics too.

No, I’m not. But IMHO Forza 3 (and yes, I’ve played it) isn’t really on the same level of realism as the current SimBin titles are. Now, I’m not saying this is a bad thing, or the fault’s with either SimBin or Turn 10/MS, just, well, you can’t really compare them.

One is made by a company with a low budget for (mostly) ‘pure sim-racers’ (please, no discussion about SimBin not being realistic with their Race titles and everything…) the other is made by a multi-million (if not billion) dollar company aimed to please everyone with a XboX with a nice combo of realism and arcade.

By the way, I really like Forza 3 and wish I had a XboX…

Well I realized the physics are much improved over FM2 .. I remember in FM2 I couldn’t do a powerslide, my car would just end up spinning. But in FM3, it works.

As for the cockpit, yes it is poor but as long as the gauges font can be read then it’s ok. I’ve complained about 8 cars but even with hard opponents I can still get to 1st position fast enough and feel like I’m driving alone .. uhh. .. yeah :sd: :sd: :sd:

I totally disagree when someone says this is the best console sim game. I think GT5p is better but even that is shit the only console sim racing game out there is called Supercar Challenge if you play that game you will know what I’m talking about.

Race On is tires based physics rFactor is suspensions based physics BUT Supercar Challenge is the only racing game I ever played where the physics are in car weight transfer physics.

I’m not saying it’s perfect but definitely the most realistic of the 3 still now Eutechnyx are reworking their engine to make tires and suspensions are crucial as weight transfer physics in their next game.

And from what I heard from them they have contacted Endurancers for somethings I’m not allowed to say here! Please if you really love sim racing game try Supercar Challenge it makes all other console “sims” including simracetonight’s Forza 3 beg for mercy!

I haven’t tried Supercar Challenge so I can’t comment on the physics but let me say this:

Wheter or not the title has good physics, it is completely spoiled by sub-par track modeling. How can it be a simulation if it does not get one of the basics, the tracks, even remotely right?

I rememeber an on-board video on the Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit which was completely off at many points.

Montaya please try it as a sim expert like you it would make sense to try it. I completely agree with you about the tracks but unfortunately console game in the end of the day you have to make a profit otherwise you are out of biz and this is what the devs had to say to me “Hi Felipe, unfortunately reviewers are not hard core gamers, if you put out those “ugly” tracks out there it will have huge negative impact in our scores so we have no option but do that!”. But seems like their new title boosted by PS3 sales (it’s a PS3 exclusive) hopefully with Enduracers in it it will be much better than SCC. Supercar Challenge 10x better than Race Pro!

it is definitely the best arcade racing game to date…

It contains a great number of cars – true, but of that 400 cars, how are made up from teams, of one manufacturer, exactly how many team porsches do you need when the painting community can paint any thing in days anyway. They have given the DTM cars unpainted, it will not be long before the whole field is ready for download. The online restriction to 8 is SAD. I am sure that they could easily have double this, my own feeling is that 20 makes for a good race. Not being able to host your own races seems like a pretty retrograde step. We can easily race against 5 times that amount in our favourite sims, so why can they not deliver the netcode to allow that on the console. As for the tracks, adding all the ones, from the last game and adding some new tracks made up by the developers JOY! They drive worse than a Tilke track. I know that they have to make profit, but maybe if they cut down the number of team versions of cars and added a few of the worlds best circuits. They have secured Aussie V8s and you have no tracks to run them on. I am sure the Australians are going to jump in there and race. NOT! I was a console user until I discovered rFactor.

I did try the demo and I hated the physics, I was just sliding through corners with little or no feedback from the road. I thought that FM2 was good but that was before discovering the joys of Sim racing on the PC.

There is no way I am going to go back there when the these glaring problems exist. I have one other issue too, the lack of a decent wheel for the Xbox that does not cost the earth – I would not use it enough to warrant expenditure on the Fanatec Wheel.
