Formula Two 0.95 – Released

Posted on March 16th, 2010 in

The Simco Modding Team has released a first version of their Formula Two mod for rFactor, adding a popular new Formula series to the simulation.

The version released now is not completely final as the team is still working on better sounds and proper boost simulation. Furthermore, the current version is aimed at online play, coming with no talent files for the AI.

Launched in 2009, The FIA Formula Two Championship is meant to provide young drivers with a chance to compete in top-tier motorsport. The series uses a standard chassis built by Williams, the cars are powered by Audi engines that put out 400hp.

The cars offer a boost-feature that extends the car’s power to 450hp for up to six seconds, ten times during a race. The young series made headlines for all the wrong reasons when young Henry Surtees suffered fatal injuries during a Formula Two race at Brands Hatch during the series’ maiden season.

You have to run in DX9 mode for that to go away. They should fix that really.

Is there any way to make it work on DX7? Because 9 lags way too much, I get like 5 FPS

I’ve no idea mate. Simco would hopefully know the answer to that one. I’ve found myself running in DX8 these days to avoid the inevitable rFactor freezes/sound loops which force a reboot.
On this mod, because of that error, I had to go back to DX9 and cross my fingers rF wouldn’t crash.

How come you want to go to DX7 ? Is this for performance gain ? I’m not getting any lag in DX9. What is your CPU/GPU specs ?

Thanks F1Racer that’s cured the problem, just upgraded the graphics card and it had reset itself to DX7 mode.
    Great mod,well done
