Formula Nippon 2008 1.07 – Released

rFactor Series has released another small update for their Formula Nippon 2008 rFactor mod, fixing a few small glitches as listed below. The new version is available both as patch for users of the previous version as well as as full install.

Changelog:

-Fixed a helmet skin.
-Fixed suspension geometry.
-Fixed the affect of upgrading fins.
-Fixed damage file.

The mod includes all cars and drivers of the 2008 Formula Nippon series, Japan’s most popular open wheel racing series. Furthermore, RealFeel & controller settings as well as matching templates are included.

Using Lola-build cars powered by Honda & Toyota engines, Formula Nippon features some of Japan’s most talented racers as well as international drivers such as Andre Lotterer, Loic Duval or Benoit Treluyer.

Must download this update and resurrect rfactor, seem to have got bored/uninterested in my sim racing recently. These cars are a blast round the fantasy Quinn GP track, from what I remember!

I’m really starting to think FN2008 is the best open wheel mod for rFactor… Or maybe the best “modern” open-wheel mod? Still hard to beat GP79 or F1_91 for old school emmersion… But what these guys have done with Formula Nippon is stunning. Gorgeous models, excellent physics and sound, just the right amount of detail–and probably the easiest open wheel mod to get in and drive at about 90%.

Really enjoyed a couple hours with this last night, such a joy to drive! Part of the fun is that the mod group have provided a nice default setup, which I found did not need much tweaking for high downforce tracks like Silverstone and Autopolis.

Com8 Nordschleife 2009 – Five New Previews

After being busy with other track projects for quite a while, Com8 has released some new previews of a very much anticipated track for rFactor - The Nürburgring Nordschleife 2009. Based on the original Simbin version, Com8's 2009 version will contain many changes such as new textures & shaders, remodelled curbs, the removal of all fictional advertisement boards and lots of trackside objects. New features include the layout used for the Nürburgring 24 Hour race as well as new bumps and shadows. Grand Slam 1.0 – Released

Following the two betas released a year ago, Team Players have released the final version of their Grand Slam mod for rFactor, bringing the DP class of the 2006 Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series to the simulation. The mod includes four different Daytona Prototype models made by Riley, Crawford, Fabcar and Doran. The cars are powered by various V8 engines from manufacturers such as BMW, Porsche & Lexus. Targa Florio for rFactor – Lots of New Previews

6e66o has released a new batch of preview shots of the Targa Florio conversion project, showing us two edited and plenty of unedited shots of the legendary Italian track in rFactor. The Porsche 904 featured in the shots has been made by HistorX, creators of the Historic GT & Touring Car mod for rFactor, who have recently announced a co-operation with the Targa Florio conversion team. Rouen les Essarts All Platforms – Released

Virtua_LM has released GT Legends, GTR2 and RACE07/GTR Evolution versions of their popular Rouen les Essarts track for rFactor, bringing the spectacular historic race track to Simbin's most popular simulations. The legendary French circuit is a high speed semi-permanent racetrack, famous for its fast sweeps and the brickyard hairpin. After a series of fatalities, the track has been out of operation for a long time now. rFactor 2 – Plenty of New Previews

Three months after showing us the last two of rFactor 2 screenshots, Image Space Incorporated has released a bunch of new preview material of their upcoming simulation.
