Formula 3 Italia F309 for rFactor 2 – Cockpit Previews

Tuttle has released new previews of his Formula 3 Italia F309 for rFactor 2, showing us first ever cockpit previews of the Italian open wheeler.

Tuttle is basing his model on a high-poly version he created of the car for promotional purposes (see here). The rFactor 2 version will use 90% less polygons but will still look stunning as you can see below.

The physics will be based on real telemetry data, Tuttle plans to release the car with a base livery and template, leaving it to the community painters to provide a full field of cars.

    Funny how things are based on real data, but I don’t think *anybody* even remotely understands how the rFactor 2 tire model works yet!

    You’re right. There is a lack of information for the new tire physic and the new TGM is a new territory for everyone…but the main info still remains correct. I’m working with real data for the engine, chassis, suspensions, gearbox, setups, aerodynamics etc… Kumho do not release deep infos about the S700 and formula 3 italian teams doesn’t have much more than standards manuals with a handfull of informations :)…so I’ve to work with other slip angles and tire models similar much as possible to the S700…

    its weird on the mirrors the arm of the mirrors have a little outline bright color, maybe it’s not finished but it’s not ok

    Well they are but honestly you need a super powerful computer to get them.
    For me with HD5770 it hardly looks better than rf1, and much less fps. 

    It will get truly interesting only after release I suppose.

    good graphics require a good graphics card, especiially on a sim that has a lot more then graphics going on.

    and this a beta that needs optimising of course.

     serious? Im running with 3870×2 and getting 60fps lock with everything on full except medium shadows. hdr on.

    Yes, seriously. Check out even official ISI forums. Most ATi users complain that performance is poor – yet. I do realize its beta but its not good now.

    Thanks guys. Unfortunately the steering wheel and other electronic cockpit parts will be different in the final release…as I’ve to use the F3 Italian standards (Magneti Marelli/Sparco) instead the Euro F3 stuff (Bosch/Momo)….Maybe I could create two different version of the same mod, using different engine/electronic setups…I’ve to think about this…:)

    Tuttle how do you get the “Toggle Post Fx menus” on the menu? My last menu item is “toggel weather fx…”

    You’ve to force the HDR/PostFX menu into the devmode config.ini.

    Open it and change these two lines like this:

    UsePostFX=1
    UseHDRProcess=1
