Here’s a cool product for car fanatics who are tired of using those old standard USB-sticks and external hard drives. Flash Rods offers data storage solutions, hidden in scale car models.
Their flagship products are 250GB & 500GB hard drives, built into detailed 1:18 scale models. The models are very detailed with doors and hoods that can be opened, the only hint giving the new purpose away is the USB connector in the back bumper. Check out the Flash Rods website for more details here, USB sticks start around $20 and might be a cool gift idea for fellow car fanatics.

The little $20 USB drive cars might be OK just for a cool X-mas gift, but $230 for a 500GB drive? Not in this lifetime. I could buy FOUR 500GB drives for that kind of money. I can buy the SAME Jada model cars for $29 each, a 500GB mini USB hard drive for about $55, and then make my own…
Maybe I’m just an asshole, but come on, I can’t be the only one thinking this. You can find out ways to build TONS of stuff like this (actually, much cooler stuff) over at indestructibles.com. Maybe if you have money coming out of your ass you can afford things like this, but the rest of us are being suffocated by a horrible economy, and can’t afford to spend $230 on an $85 piece of hardware.
