Firestone Indy Lights 1.0 – Released

Posted on March 13th, 2010 in

Mike Peters has released his Firestone Indy Lights open-wheel mod for rFactor, bringing us his final mod for the simulation.

After releasing several very popular IRL mods, this one is Mike’s final work for rFactor. The mod is released unfinished and the modding community is welcome to finish it as long as no parts are used for commercial purposes.

Indy Lights are the most important feeder series for IRL, running their 100 mile race in Indianapolis in support of the Indy 500. History of the series dates back to 1986 when it was started as development series for CART.

The series utilises spec Dallara chassis, powered by 3,5 liter Infiniti Q45 V8-engine. Indy Lights race both on road courses and ovals. The mod includes cars from three different seasons, ranging from 2007 to 2009.

Looks good, gonna grab this one.

BTW, anyone know what is ‘unfinished’ with this mod ?

Also the paintkit link doesn’t appear to be working.

Where is Mike going  ? Work on other projects or something else? Sure like his Indy mods

Needs mirrors, filefront doesn’t work atm.

Having now played it, or tried to, I can see where its unfinished.

Took it for a drive at Mid-Ohio. After waiting for about 20s for the car to get going in 1st gear (yes literally 20s even after setup work), I finally got it going and did a few laps. Not too bad. Nothing wow, but it was ok.

Watched the replay only to see that the wheels don’t touch the ground, so thats clearly an unfinished area too.

Some potential with this one so I hope some talented modder(s) out there can fix the physics and wheels etc to make this a playable mod.
Be a shame to let this go.

I have a set of corrected hdv, tbc, eng, gears and upgrades files. Give me a few to clean them up and zip them and I’d like to share them with you for testing.

no. everything I can work with deals with physics and files. I have no ability to do any graphical fixes.
