A few days ago, FileFront.com was announced to be shut down by the end of March by owner ZiffDavies cooperation. This would have been a significant blow for the sim racing community as FileFront is one of the major public download hosters which has been used to publish thousands of mods, tracks and painted cars.
Now, the previous owners of FileFront have announced their takeover of the site, ensuring that the site and it’s services will stay alive. Even though there are countless of these one-click hosters available, only a handful of them like Rapidshare, Megaupload or Filefront are big and reliable enough to ensure a good distribution of releases.

Not to mention FileFront is one of the few ones that don’t have those annoying spam/bot -checks and waiting periods (for non-members and so on).
Great to hear FileFront will stay alive! I wish more people would use and other “good” sites and less of RapidShare or MegaUpload etc. Though when you really want a file then any file download service is your favorite :D And I’ve use MegaUpload to upload files… Not a hypocrite at all :P

Great news, for exactly the reason Tero mentioned above.
When you download a file from Filefront, you click one button, and the download starts. None of those spambot code checks and waiting periods that are incredibly annoying. Plus Filefront always provided the fastest downloads for me.
Viva Filefront!

FileFront is the absolute best in free file hosting. Like others said, no annoying waits to try and get you to spend money. FF relies on ads on the page, which is more than OK with me, and their servers are heavy hitters. I LOATHE rapidshare, megaupload is OK I guess and I hate nogrip because they’re idiots who don’t know how to impose rules that deter theft, and IMO if you aren’t part of the solution you’re part of the problem.
