FIA GT3 for rFactor 1.0 – Released

Apex Modding has released their massive FIA GT3 mod for rFactor, bringing us a carefully crafted recreation of the popular European sports car championship.

Being in the works for over five years, the first version of the mod includes the following seven car models with plenty of liveries:

Aston Martin DBRS9
BMW Alpina B6 GT3
Porsche 997 GT3 R
Audi R8 LMS
Corvette Z06
Lamborghini Gallardo
Ferrari F430

The physics have been made with help from real FIA GT3 drivers, the team uses some new shader and DirectX9 optimized graphics for a proper optical presentation.

    OMFG. One of the most various racing series now in rF. Great. Apex is one of the few groups who know how to make proper physics. I still remember their immersive 288 GTO mod.

    So for those two mirrors we either need to pointlessly register on a website or try and guess a login name and password.
    I say pointlessly because 99% of people who aren’t signed up to racingfr will have to enter their details (or false details) just to access a mod and never use the site for anything else.  It doesnt help that it’s French either.

    Would like to try the mod but Im not going to be forced to sign up anywhere to a site I`ll never use in order to get it.
    Hopefully there will be a no restrictions link at some point.

    I get an error when I try to load the Lambo.
    “Error loading texture 07_SBRT_15 for Material WCCARBODY”

    It’s easy to fix if you have some 3D editing program (for example 3DSimed). In this case material has wrong named texture I guess, should be “07_SBRT_1.DDS”, or “07_SBRT_15.BMP”. You can’t fix it by hand in notepad or etc. Wait for quick fix. I think authors are going after it in short time.

    no need to edit nothing, after have dl the mod on one link, made a clean install of rfactor , decompressed and installed,the gallardo sbrt15 work perfectly.
    he just need to check if he have install the right folder in the right place

    First impressions: the cars look and sound fantastic.  Models are excellent, perhaps the best ive seen.  I did a quick race in the Corvette around Putnam Park, have to be really easy on the throttle, but only hit 4th gear on the straight.  Cant adjust the gearing (i guess on purpose).  Still beat all the AI cars.

    Out of the box, so to speak, very impressed.

    UPDATE: Just gave this mod a try. I am loving the sounds & graphics. Vehicle physics feels very convincing too me as well. I’m really digging this Audi R8 LMS. I didnt have this car in rfActor (is this the 1st?). Great job, many thanks. Very very pro too me

    The art looks good throughout. All very familiar to any FIA GT3 race goer or indeed, followers of British GT (GT3 rules). Sounds are of a good standard but maybe not as strong as those in Enduracers. Physics on the Porsche 997 (only car I’ve driven so far) seem a little odd with snap over steer. When I say “odd”, a spin in the first turn of the current Silverstone layout (the so called “Wing” circuit, first used for a GP this year) turning into the new first turn resulted in a spin at the apex of the turn. The spin itself is not the problem, still learning the tyres, but having gone through 360 degrees, the car ends up on the grass losing speed through the spin, but with increasing rate of rotation, then before the car halts, actually accelerating – picking up speed backwards, back toward the corner entry whilst the car is pointed toward the next corner. A bit strange to say the least.
    Might be an error in the physics ???

    =-X wtf ^^ i never seen this situation with our mod, so i can’t tell you. are you sure your version of this track is clean ? i ask you this because we used standard slipcurves (who can explain your “moove”), so it looks like strange for me.

    O.k. Got it.
    WCCARBODY Material od the Gallardo must be not or wrong defined for DX7 Shader.
    When I use DX8 or DX9 in game all works well.
    If anyone from APEX is reading this. Please check this again.

    the mod is made for be used on dx9, like we specified on the gt3 site : http://www.apex-modding.com/index.php

    and the shaders is only made to be used on dx9

    Absolutely no problem here. I downloaded it from Ivan Patillon’s mediafire upload and extracted into a clean rF installation.

    There is a folder called ../rfactor/uidata/GT3UIData/uisounds. Delete it and what remains is … silence – when you are not on track.

    a patch correting all signaled bugs is avalable here : http://downloads.xxxteam.fr/fiagt3/getpatch.html

    Corrections that are included :
    – External sound power of other drivers lowered
    – Hearing of the starting engine of F430 and Gallardo corrected
    – Left internal mirror of Gallardo does work
    – Audi R8 not driving cameras corrected

    Patch is doing an online mismatch due to sound corrections. Sorry for that.

    Ferrari F430′s Ferrari’s Horse at the back of the car seems to be mirrored and need to be fixed.

    Its not a bug. It’s simply that this brand doesnt want people not giving money to them to use their brand. So it’s a deliberate choice to put the horse reverse.

    I get a consistent error reading MAS file when I boot up RF after trying this.

    Might be something to do with the Apex shader bit, as in the RF root file there is only a shader folder with not much in it, I also dont want to templated so never transfer these across to root.. All the other stuff goes in fine, but the game just will not load with this mod installed at the moment

    I have run into a couple problems. First when I start the game and choose a car I get an error message saying “error opening MAS file GT3_SHOWROOM.MAS”. Second, I get no engine/car sounds. any ideas what is wrong?
