Ferrari Challenge – Downloadable Content

Shortly after releasing their Ferrari Challenge racing game for the Playstation 3, developer System3 is already thinking about future ways to extend their games. Several download packs will be coming, enriching the game with new cars and tracks.

According to Eurogamer, the first pack will be released in August, including the Nürbugring GP Circuit as well as five new cars. The Ferrari Enzo, Ferrari P4, Ferrari 430 Scuderia, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti und Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano and the new track will cost reasonable 3.99 British Pounds.

Furthermore, System3 has confirmed a bunch of tracks for future packs, including some very famous venues. Laguna Seca, Daytona, Brands Hatch, Donington, Barcelona, Hungarorin, Suzuka and Monaco will all be coming, System3 is also in the process of obtaining a license for Le Mans.

But extensions won’t be limited to cars and tracks as other gimmicks are also planned. System3 is planning to include clutch support for the Logitech G25 in a future update, bringing the game little bit further towards being a simulation.

The only thing Ferrari Challenge does not have is a demo, and that will not change in the near future even though System3 is looking into it. So if you´r tempted, you have to go out and buy this one.

It’s good to see a PS3 game trying to compete with GT5 and PC sims.

    Some very intersting tracks too.

Agreed, good news, clutch support is badly needed!! You can’t drive the old cars without a clutch.

It’s meant to be similar to GTR2.

“With its handling pitched somewhere between the obsessive geometries of Gran Turismo and the skittish arcade thrills of GRID”

Taken from the ign article. Doesnt sound good at all.

Nah that’s rubbish. It’s more akin to GTR2. In fact I’d say it’s a little better as the grip levels aren’t as forgiving as Simbin’s game.
ABS, TC, and SC are all accurately implemented as well so it doesn’t feel that much of a cheat. You need it to as it features the best weather effects I’ve seen since GP4.
I swapped GRID (*spits*) for FC and I’ve never looked back. My only niggle is the AI is a bit slow. That needs patching for sure.

I love this game, the nearest thing on console to a sim. Although winning Hockenheim in the wet is proving beyond me at the moment. Fingers crossed the LeMans licence come through.
