We have become used to Fanatec’s spectacular product reveals during the past months and the innovations just won’t stop as yet another new steering wheel rim has been announced!

ooh that’s a nice one ! Before long I’m going to get myself some of these goodies.

    • Birddogg66

Here’s what I did for myself this is Hub wheel Rim Combo #1

      • F1Racer

That’s a BIG wheel. You definately need a much bigger monitor :)

      • Birddogg66

Haha looks that way huh? It’s not too much bigger than the BMW rim and is the Same size as the Classic and Oval Rim offerings in Fanatec Webshop. When Driving it works out fine since this photo is a low angle. Overall the design of the Uni Hub is ingenious. It ‘s the best mod project item I have seen thus far as concerning creative universal design. Derek Speare has some great designs for adding a Rim to a G25-27 and having buttons to go with it and offers a couple of placement options for a button plate but nothing like this. However Derek does focus on a different base unit that has more limitations as to what he can do with his designs.

      • F1Racer

The Universal Hub is a nice piece of kit. It just gives you so much freedom when it comes to rim choice.
Now… about that Bus Simulator :)

i just got this wheel. moving from the BWW G2, its a lot lighter and more responsive, the improvement was so much that i decided to sell my BMW Rim so keeping the Porsche and F1! Its a lot of money but boy the quality is A1

      • Marcel

Very nice rim, but please let the monitor be a joke :-D

      • Birddogg66

It’s just the focal point the photo was taken from I think the monitor is 20″ and is fine for the time being.

Going to have to investigate a bit more….$400 for just the rim, or the rim and base? Is the rim detachable if the price includes the base……

I think I want this……alot….I for one am eagerly awaiting some reviews!

EDIT: looked it up…400 for the rim plus 450 for the base….too pricey for me; knew it was too good to be true….oh well!

    • Jim Siskos

If you think the base is included in the price, you obviously don’t have a clue about Fanatec prices. :D

      • The Dark

        nice way to talk. gloating?

      • Jim Siskos

Sorry I’m just mad at the fanatec prices!!!!

      • The Dark

they do look good though. i would like to be able to afford them too. i see people commenting on the base and that it has some issues with the motor and things so it makes me wonder if fanatec have a mk2 version coming or something. i would hate to buy the current base and then they announce a new one in 3 months.

      • Birddogg66

They may have a very high end servo type base in the works and I would not be surprised if a v2 CSW base were to immerge as well.

      • Marcel

Oh God my money. I could not resist if a servo base would hit the market. I would sell the csw with gt2 rim and go for the 918 :-D… And gone would be the summer holiday xD

  • mikemav

Wonder if this rim will work with the other optional rims they will be selling to work with the new CSW universal rim adapter. In other words, does this rim remove from the “guts” (attached button boxes, QR hub, electronics) and allow you to connect any of the other $99+ stand-alone rims…?

    • Marcel

No it’s standalone like the BMW GT2 rim

  • Marcel

As if i knew it coming, my custom wheel that i attached this week looks a bit similar
    http://youtu.be/yWGfr1oGxOU

    • DrDeathO5

      Not a fair comparison though….
You still need to add the 4 button-boxes, 1 funkyswitch and the big paddles to the weight….

so your rim would weigh at least 200 gr more then 1200 gr. and you still don’t got the shifter lights etc…

I think the Porsche wheel looks stunning.

      • Marcel

Yes i know, but it’s still lighter and cheaper. Sure it doesn’t look as nice as the 918 but it’s enough for my needs and if i don’t need this many buttons etc. i have a very light wheel. If i would buy the Fanatec Base now and don’t have the GT2 rim i definitely would go for the 918 wheel. Oh man if we only could have a new Richard Burns Rally :-/….

  • furiousgibbon

is the functionally the same as the BMW GT2 wheel? Based on the specs it looks to be, yet it’s $170 (AUD) more expensive… I just priced up wheel base, BMW rim, pedals and shifter and it came in at $1500. Some people may scoff but that seems like a good deal to me for some very high quality kit. Perhaps I’ve become desensitised after spending so much maintaining an actual track car. Still a few months until local stock is available, so some time to think …

    • KashunatoR

It has the same diameter, but it’s 30% lighter so it’ll give you better force feedback. As soon as I put together the money, it’s mine.
Aside from the brown leather, it’s all I wanted.

    • Birddogg66

Well I imagine Licensing comes into play for both BMW and Porsche and Porsche being a bit more finicky and wanting more money for License. If you want to blame EA I aint gonna cry. Also the Porsche rim has genuine leather while Alcantara is a high grade imitation suede may add some cost. Porsche rim has some Carbon Fiber that adds cost and an LED built into the rim itself. The added cost seems justitied.

  • RKipker

Wish they would focus on a unit which supports Xbone, PC and PS4 with changeable whhel

    • Marcel

I’m sure they do, it’s not their fault that no current wheel support the next gen consoles.

  • Mazda Mps

Give us a servo wheel and I’ll buy this rim.

  • Roger Wallentin

I think this is the best looking, highest quality and most functional wheel on sale today, regardless of price?

It is not cheap, but you also get a lot of premium product for that money!

I’m thinking about ditching the CSR-E for a CSW with this rim… Or the generic hub and a similar aftermarket wheel (already have one custom fitted to the CSR-E)… But the shiftlights and buttons are so nicely integrated, love the leather and design of the wheel itself…

  • Birddogg66

    Interesting
