Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S – SimHQ Review

The guys over at SimHQ.com have published a very detailed review of Fanatec’s new Porsche 911 Turbo S wheel and their Clubsport aluminum pedals.

The Turbo S is not just Fanatec’s newest product but also the only Fanatec wheel to support both the PC and the Playstation 3 as well as Microsoft’s Xbox 360 gaming console.

Even though you might have already read VirtualR’s review of the wheel, SimHQ’s article written by Chunx is well worth a read for everyone thinking about buying the Turbo S.

no doubt the best wheel for the money on the market. once my G25 dies i will look into fanatec.

but one worrying thing is that in conclusion he says that fanatac advises not to use the wheel more then one hour without taking break! due to overheating.

Fanatec’s wheels are basically still in Beta they can’t mass produce them for that same reason they don’t want you playing it too much i.e. hardware failure. Faulty Fanatec wheels are way above 3% industry average I would say somewhere at 20% !

Fortunatly you are wrong, Felipe. We had problems in the beginning but even then, the defective rate was well below 10%. This was still too high but all the negative buzz was created by a few guys (like you?) which had problems. The wheels are certainly not “beta” anymore
And anybody who had an issue will also get a solution for it so the negative posts will disappear and you will perhaps notice the majority of happy customers.

BTW: We have testers in China which drove the wheel 24/7 for 2 month without one minute break and there was no problem. But what you write into a manual is a different story.

oh Fanatec, please tell me why the GT3 RS has such badly positioned and small paddles. I just got one and I guess Im just so used to my old G25 that blew up.

I have to crunch my fingers up while playing and this can lead to cramp after a while. theres no gap behind the wheel rim between the rim and the paddles. What happened there ???

Also as I did with my G25, I left my GT3 RS plugged in on the power but unplugged on the USB overnight. I went out this morning and when I came back in the afternoon I heard a buzzing sound which I thought was coming from my tower. Turned out it was the fan(s) inside the wheel that were whirring away. The wheel was just sat under my desk so I take it we have to physically unplug these from the mains too.
Sorry for being slightly o/t, just grabbing an opportunity.

wow it’s great to hear problems were solved so from now one if I need I’ll say they “had” a high failure rate my bad there! I know the place where you guys manufacture your wheels in Shenzhen and the Chinese who test your wheels said you guys had issues that’s why I said it in the first place but I trust you more than them
