Does/will the GT3 RS have that “drift mode”?

  • thetruth

    it already has it.

this is a pretty lame way to sell a wheel. same as the others except support for all platforms.

i want to see a porsche rs spyder wheel or something.

  • Ernie

    yes

  • adrian

    Missed a letter there:

    - aves up to 5 wheel set-ups

  • Pinball

Seriously when are Fanatec going to understand Australia exists. Joke of a company.

  • Der_KHAN

ok, so it’s basically a GT3RS with support for the XBOX 360?

  • mathew7

At least the v2 (which I have). I don’t know about the original GT3RS.

  • Gaiajohan

The Australian market is just too small. Just 25 million inhabitants. I think shipping costs, marketing costs etc don’t weigh out against the price. So the price must be much higher, but a higher price gives fewer sales. The Australian market is just too niche. Even AJapan (120 million) cannot have the wheels, and I hink the Japanese market is more important than the Australian market. At the moment its only available in North America (400 million inhabitants) and Europe (700 million inhabitants). Those markets are huge, which makes a lot of costs just cheaper and Fanatec know they might sell quite a lot of wheels, while in Australia there might be so few people who buy it, that they might even lose money on each wheel.

  • felipe

Fanatac should show some love towards Rob and VirtualR.net and send you one of these for reviewing. they do that towards some morons why not towards the good guy?!!

  • felipe

Brazil is a huge market second to US in sim racing and still Fanatec hasn’t been competent enough towards that market I guess their business plans are some what weird! you get CST pedals in Australia http://www.cst-australia.com/ which is the best!

  • krivjur

V1 has it but you can’t adjust it via the LCD tuning, only with driver software.

  • qawaza

300mm diameter? 330mm would be nice…more real & dont feel like a toy…is a Porsche after all. But i do hope logitech too can come up with a bigger diameter wheel in the future. I have fitted a 330mm momo on my g25 & it feels completely different..so REAL

  • Montoya

I´ve already reviewed both the GT3 RS & the Turbo S, a review of the 911 Carrera and the new GT2 is coming up.

So you´re asking for something that’s already been done…thanks though  :)

  • retiisi

Support for all platforms is extremely important. XBox’s Lack of decent wheel is one of the biggest reasons I haven’t bought it.

  • Silly(c)One

What the Fanatec lacks in diameter, it makes up with strong and smooth FFB…
You know if you have a Momo that they are available in all sizes and shapes, I’ve seen wheels of 250, 260, 280, 290, 320, 330, 340 and 350mm diameter from Momo, OMP, Sparco, NRG etc., so to each his own.
The Fanatec wheels don’t feel like a toy at all, contrary to the Logitech wheels.

Now I admit it would be nice to have the possibility to swap the steering wheel itself, but that’s difficult to do for a wheel dedicated to the mass market and consoles. If you’re a hardcore simracer, there’s always the Frex SimWheel… at 2000€  :-P

  • mykem

It’s also nice to know that another mid-end wheel is coming into the market.  The Thrustmaster T500RS is belt driven like the Fanatec and just like the G25, it’s attractive to those looking for a non-brand (or model) specific wheel.  The steering wheel itself doesn’t seem any bigger but the design look simple enough that you can modify it the way people have done to their G25.

  • marcel.be

    249 USD = 185,62 Euro
once again, Europeans are being ripped off…
the difference is over 100€ if you get the clubsport edition.

  • zzz

500usd=380euro, this is fokken joke, they produce it in eu zone(germany)…. and when they send it on ther other side ov the world its fokken cheaper, madness

  • zzz

byw this porshe like design SUKZ BALLZ, im waiting for the clubsport wheel/shifter/pedals combo.. and i will ask my friend form us to send it to me, cuz itz fokken cheaper!!

  • Silly(c)One

The Fanatec wheels are only “designed” in Germany, coz like everything else, it’s… made in China.
    A bit like Apple’s “Designed in California”…

Any device that’s not made in China costs many times the price, but the quality is on par… That’s how the world works nowadays. If you want to make some money and touch the masses, no choice but go to China.

  • Thomas

It is really a rip off…by the Government!
The EU price includes 19% VAT.
We keep the prices the same because the exchange rates go up and down and in EU we have a higher exchange rate risk as we always buy in USD. Also logistics are more expensive.

  • Christian SVensson

This wheel, the GT3 RS or the G27? It’s soon christmas and i can’t rly decide..

  • Mainly Sim

The Logitech is also a rip off by your logic… Logitech G27 = $299 in the U.S vs £299 in the U.K.

£299 = $466 or $299 = £191 @ todays (5.12.2010) exchange rate. I would go to the US to get two but I need a taxi to the airport, return flight tickets, accomodation, food, taxi back to the airport………. lol

Plenty of Hidden costs that are not hidden if you have a clue what you are talking about.

  • u right!

EU price include 19%VAT thats why US ver is 32% cheaper(and us price include sales tax)…

  • u right!

btw big game developers say that same bullSh,,, if they sell games for 1euro=1$, but small can say truth, and the truth is that eu customer pays more than us customer, and developers get more $$ from single unit sold in eu. (futuremark)

  • flying finn

if you’re planning to connect it to ps3 sometimes then g27 is not an option, because there is no adjustment in the wheel.

  • felipe

I agree with Thomas on that! all of Fanatec’s expenses in Europe are in Rothschild’s euro! logistics are more expensive and forex is a big problem!

  • GXK

    Hi,

I have pre-ordered the 911 GT2 wheel without the clubsport pedals because I didn’t want to wait until January so I bought the clubsport pedals sepparately.
Do you think the clubsport pedals I bought from fanatec are compatible with the GT2 wheel or should I have pre-ordered the whole package that ships in January?

I believe the pedals are the same but need some opinions… have not had a Fanatec wheel since the original 911 :)

  • u right!

Selling a wheel by a german company to a german customer is more expenisve!!!

  • loller

Are you guys serious? You forget one big thing. How come you guys think it’s cheaper in the usa? 500 euro’s include 19% taxes and the shipping costs are not that much.

If you ship it to the USA, you have to pay custom tax and importt taxes on the 500 Dollars. Think about that!

  • Starfox550

How come nobody ever argues about logitech prices? Check the U.K website for the wheels and then go and check the U.S! that’s right it’s the same! To quote the A Teams Mr T “quit your jibber jabber” & “shut up fool”

You really have to ask what these people really know about keeping a business afloat never mind an international business! I’m guessing most the whiners know nothing.

I’m looking forward to my GT2. I have BMW E36 M3 EVO seat(s) inside my house, soon I’ll have a another piece of german engineering to put one of them to use. Good time to figure out how to wire the electical adjustments.
    :-D

  • u right!

We should talk about logitech or any other producer in this “thread” about fanatec wheel.
