Fanatec Porsche 911 Carrera – Production Starting Soon

Back in November 2008, Fanatec initially announced the Porsche 911 Carrera wheel as newest member of their line of Porsche wheels. The focus on other projects such as the Porsche 911 Turbo S wheel has delayed its introduction but now that the Turbo S production has come to an end after 10.000 units, Fanatec has announced to start producing the Carrera wheel soon.

Compatible to PC and Playstation 3 racing titles, the 911 Carrera wheel is designed to be Fanatec’s budget option, offering many features of the pricier Fanatec wheels for a competative price. Since the innitial announcement, Fanatec has made several improvements to the concept that are listed below, creating a rather impressive feature list.

  • Added ball bearing on the steering shaft
  • Full PS3 compatibility because of new electronics based on the PWTS
  • Adjustable linearity
  • Adjustable dead-zone
  • Adjustable steering angle from 90 to 900 in 10° steps
  • silent gear drive
  • no cooling fans needed
  • compatible to CSP
  • upgradeable firmware

The Porsche 911 Carrera wheel is planned to sell for 149,95 € or $159,95 respectively. Below are some images of the wheel as it was unveiled in 2008, images of the final version aren’t yet available.

Fanatec seem to have figured out how to make their products reliable BUT not reachable! I don’t get WHY? they still don’t ship directly their wheels to S. America we have U$500 limit in BR so customs is not the problem. They’re growing but still very very slowly in this pace maybe in 50 years time they’ll ‘reach’ the markets Logitech already are established at! (just kidding :sd: )

Thomas could you please state the reason or reasons not to ship your products to the 2nd biggest sim community country in the world?

P.S 2nd biggest based on Logitech’s numbers with the most number of wheels sold worldwide US comes in first and Brazil 2nd!

Shipping to Australia would be nice as well. I want the Clubsport pedals.

Our primary target to achieve steady and reliable logistics and supply in EU and USA before we expand to other markets. We are close to get distribution in AUS and Japan and we are talking to an Brazilian distributor as well. We need to do this step by step.

  • steve30x

Will you guys be supplying to Ireland?

  • http://www.911wheel.com Fanatec

    we already ship to Ireland

  • steve30x

I will be looking for reviews in comaprison of this new wheel to my G25 in the futire then and if its as good or better than my G25 then I will definately buy one. Thank your for your answers :)

Fanatec: we are talking to an Brazilian distributor as well. We need to do this step by step.

Wish you guys all the best! But my main concern of working with ‘distributors’ is the potential of overpriced products shortage of the same and outdated catalog! I work in NA, SA and Asia with in this area so I know how it works. If you need someone to send your products from Shenzhen to Brazil directly let me know

Great news. I’ve been waiting for that since the SRT review. Hope it is more silent than the pre-producion model they had (with that “silent gear drive” upgrade).

  • http://www.911wheel.com Fanatec

There is actrually a new SRT review where you can (or cannot) hear the sound of the revised and final version

  • TheSTIG

Well with that fixed plus the new features I really can’t wait

  • steve30x

I saw that very short review. I am waiting for a more in depth review of the wheel though. I dont want to buy the wheel and realise that its not as good as my G25. Will I be able to use my G25 pedals with that wheel?

  • http://www.911wheel.com Fanatec

Our pedal adapter is compatible but needs to be purchased separatly. But with the adapter it is compatible to the G25 pedals.

  • steve30x

Good stuff  I will definately consider buying this wheel if thye reviews are good.
