Fanatec – New Website Launched

Fanatec has launched a fancy new website to house all their hardware products.

Aside from a new product configurator and new payment methods, the new site also comes with an important new feature for many sim racers as Fanatec now ships to Japan and Australia as well.

The new site can be checked out here, Fanatec still isn’t done adding new features as a proper community section will be coming as well.

Classic… I’ve been waiting for ages for Fanatec to ship to Australia.

I got sick of waiting and so had a work college in the US send me a CS Wheel and GT3 steering wheel over. Cost me $881 including postage to the US and then to Australia.

Now I look at the Fanatec Australia website (where nothing is available to order yet) and see the price for the wheel and base is $919.90 WITHOUT any postage..

How much did US to Aussie shipping cost?
I might have to buy one for a Teammate and i’m curious to how expensive it is.

    $159.20US via USPS

Aussie dollar is floating around $1.04US

Be nice if they added their firmwares to the downloads section. Even the older ones.

What about South America, the land of Fangio, Senna, Fittipaldi, Piquet, epic fail!!!

    Couldn’t agree more!

You do realize that Fanatec is not a US company, nor do they manufacture here? This has nothing to do with the US dollar…

Are you sure it’s not just a ‘fail’ ? I really don’t see that as ‘epic’. I’d reserve that for something like…. scientists failing to spot the meteorite that hits Earth and wipes out all civilisation. That, to me, would be an epic fail (or failure to use the correct terminology).

Am I missing something? Every product is “not yet available”.

  • Paul Mullins

No Sam – it’s Fanatec that are missing something..

I think his point was they are charging Australia much Moor given the Australian dollar is stronger. If currency wad the defining factor we should be getting them cheaper than the US.

  • Paul Mullins

Of course I do.. They are manufactured in China which is geographically closer to Australia than the US or Germany, so it can not be freight related..

Deals done with international companies in China are generally done in USD and I am guessing Fanatec are no different.., so this has everything to do with the USD and the strength of the AUD against it..!!

It’s ridiculous that an INDIVIDUAL can buy a wheel from the US site, pay for shipping to a location in the US, then have it sent to Australia and still be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the price on the Australian site.

Surely Fanatec are sending a couple of hundred wheels out to this side of the world and can take advantage of cheap sea freight shipping which would come from their China manufacturing company anyway..?

Haha, that meteorite miss would be epic, yes F1, maybe im a little exaggerated, but its really frustrating, here in SA we only have Logitech and Trustmaster, those last ones are very very expensive due to importation, im really like to buy a Fanatec wheel.

I feel ya man. Maybe you can find someone who you can get to buy one for you then send it over to you ? Or is Ebay a possibility ?
