Fanatec Forza Motorsport 4 Elite Wheel Uncovered

A few days ago, I reported on a custom-made Fanatec Audi wheel that was shown off at the VW Wörthersee meeting. While Fanatec confirmed that the rim is not intended to be mass-produced, the wheel used a brand new base that would be used by an upcoming mass market wheel as well.

Now, the guys over at InsideSimRacing.tv have uncovered this upcoming high-end wheel as you can check out several photos of the brand-new Forza Motorsport 4 Elite wheel from Fanatec below.

While no feature details have been revealed yet, it is confirmed that this wheel will once again be cross compatible to both the PC, Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. Fanatec will officially reveal the wheel at the E3 expo later today, stay tuned for more as SRT’s Darin Gangi will have a full scoop on the new wheel here on VirtualR.

Until then, we can check out the photos below that reveal some interesting details such as a built-in display, a semi-transparent base that shows off the wheel’s mechanics as well as plenty of buttons and high-quality materials.

Liking the look of those buttons (not the console buttons). The one thing I hate about the G27 are the #¤/&#/&(#& buttons.

  • SergeantBoner

Wow! Now we are talking buisness! Much cooler than the Porsche/Audi-wheels!

  • Gulyo

Looks very seriously … I’m afraid the price too  :’(

  • Tony Pony

    Wooohoo, nice fanatec! how much?

Glad I have been waiting on E3 announcements before GT2 purchase (they’ve been on backorder anyhow), if competetive with T500RS I will be a preorder on this wheel.

  • John

I see plently of metal in those photos. That’s the kind of build quality I look for.

    I want this for GT5.

  • Gnomie

It’s still belt drive :( Fingers crossed they’ve somehow miraculously got rid of the internal resistance which plagues all other belt drive wheels I’ve tried… I’m not getting my hopes up though!

  • ZombieJim

Now this looks cool. Making me think I bought mine too hastily, but I’ll know for sure when I see a price.

  • Monk

Very nice looking wheel indeed ! I love the paddles and the little digital tachometer.. only miss the rev leds from the G27. The wheel itself seem to be made of shiny plastic and rubber for the hand grip tough. Transparent cover so we can see the gears working is actually very neat.
I would actually buy this fanatec product if it’s reliable.

  • Filipe Galego

    Very nice endeed!!! Looks great!

  • Gulyo

What the matter with belt drive ???
I plan to order GT2 in the near future !!!

  • Gulyo

    I wanna buy GT2 too :)

  • Think Again

To quote the source: “Check out this new Forza Motorsports 4 Elite wheel.. It will debut at E3 today as well as their new CSR wheel”

If you read carefully, there is an other wheel to debut, too. Maybe it is even more “high end” and targeted to the PC Sim crowd !!!  *crossing my fingers*

  • John DiFool

You and me both-my Porsche II should be arriving this week, and now I might have to foist it off on a friend and get this instead (when it comes out). >:o   It was either that or roll the dice on another Red Momo off of Ebay (but I’m sick of the limited degrees of freedom).

  • JohnSc

Hope Fanatec could present a Wheel better than Driving Force GT and Thrustmaster F430 but at similar price (taking the best of this 2 wheels, for example).

But this seems another high-expensive wheel from fanatec…

  • F1Racer

Very nice looking wheel !  Looks tempting.

  • Think Again

They will be more expensive than GT2 …. That`s fine if they are better, too.
Thomas spoke about “high end wheels”, which means GT2 wheel might become upper middleclass, I guess.

  • Marcel Penzkofer

I thought the same way when I read it. It sounds like the Forza-Wheel is going to rank above the GT2 and the other Wheel to be even higher, maybe more than double the price of the GT2… but for that it needs to be made of more exclusive materials. I’ve been quite disappointed about the plastic-touch of the GT2… everytime I use it I fear that it might brake off completely. That psychical thinking of a “plastic”wheel alone makes me 2 secs a lap slower than with the less precise, but more robust feeling G27/G25 wheels.

  • Gnomie

Just my personal preference I guess. The GT3RS and the T500 both have belt drive, and in both wheels there is so much resistance in the belt mechanism (it feels “heavy”) which kills the small force feedback effects. And drift mode with the new fanatec wheels just feels… weird.

So I’m waiting (im)patientily for a new generation of gear driven wheels, like Bodnar, G29 (possibly..) or something else

  • lemming 77

I like the look of it, and I’m starting to really want one. What’s gonna make or break the deal for me is the price.

  • D B

So if it’s for Forza 4, why does it have the Forza 3 logo on it?

  • Kris Tarrant

Oooh very nice, did not se this one coming. Will be great to see the review. The compition the better!

  • magicalgin

So,, this one or the GT endorsed T500RS?

  • Riches

I just seen my future wheel!
Perfect match for my CST pedals.

  • Lai Yin Leung

I rather they gonna to present a reasonable price X360 wheel more than this one….

  • Ted Stiller

It better cost less than the T500RS, for a start. If it’s north of $700, forget it.

  • Dave A.

    Logitech G27 @ 219€
    T500RS is @ 418€

Fanatec RS V2 with CS Pedals @ 529€

Fanatec is already the most expansive FFB Wheel you can buy, quite unrealistic only cause the pedals have the feedback feature.

The new one will of course top theses ultra high price. :-$

  • Riches

Wheels with these kind of materials are worth twice or triple the money other plastic based steeringwheels.

  • Dave A.

My wheel is working with only 1 (fixed) small problem since 2004 and still accurate. If the T500RS had Feedback Brakes and some more plastic for under 400€ it would be the perfect wheel. Or do someone need a wheel or pedals that will last 40years? Accuracy is not a feature from full metal stuff.

  • sonac

Where did you find this price? It’s 329€ with CS pedals…

  • gtrNL

Anybody looking for a well maintained GT3RS V2 wheel? :D

  • Gaiajohan

I think he means a 911 GT2. But even then.. He apparently never heard of vpp, frex etc..

  • Dave A.

Ok my fault. 329€ for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS V2 with peddals.

What about frex and vpp? Totally overprized hardware, not worth to mention it.

  • Gulyo

    Hehe !!!

  • aaltomar

I wonder if you know that the resistance is configurable? I usually use the highest setting with least resistance. Out of the box I was really disappointed since the wheel was too much dampened as it were running at it’s lowest setting. But when changing the drift setting it got a lot more loose. Not much more resistance than in G25, a bit more, but not much to bother me too much. Good even for iRacing.

  • Ross Siggers

Joking aside, I am looking for one with shifters! And maybe a G25 pedal adapter if you have it! xD

  • Dan

Sorry but I see nothing innovative here, the only difference is the case. I hope everybody isn’t fooled by the colorful case.

  • gtrNL

Well, I’dd be waiting for the release of this baby, watching the reviews, and then I’ll make my mind up.

And I probably won’t sell the shifter and pedals.

  • Meton Sanga

there are two models, go to the forza homepage for more details, one has a shifter, and carbonfibre bits everywhere…
What im more interested in is what are the pedals, pentometer or cell

  • Silly(c)One

Now try with your eyes open.
