Fanatec CSR Elite Formula Rim – Pre-Orders Accepted

Fanatec promised a new wheel rim for the owners the XBoX-360 compatible CSR Elite wheel last year and the company has come true on their promise as the CSR Elite Formula Rim is now available for pre-order.

Compared to the Formula Rim for the PC-based CSW, the rim has lost a few features to maintain console-compatability while retaining the same base design & F1 look:

Features

  • Compact diameter of 26 cm to allow fast movements and reactions
  • Durable construction based on a metal frame
  • Grips made of an artificial leather material. Easy to clean! Comfortable grip!
  • 11 ergonomically positioned buttons
  • Two 4-way joysticks with push-function which can be individually and independently mapped on PC
  • Adjustable and detachable paddle shifters, completely made of metal
  • LED display shows telemetry functions. Works with several popular PC games like iRacing or rFactor
  • Adjustable and detachable paddle shifters completely made of metal.
  • Tuning functions with a larger LED display to adjust settings independent of the game and even during gameplay

The wheel rim is now available for pre-order, selling for 179,95 Euros/Dollars respectively. Fanatec expects the unit to ship at the end of March.

Wish they would sell this steering together with the CSR, instead of the plastic/rubbercoated one that comes with it.

Erm, no thanks… Having the option is much better. I drive open wheelers not 10% of the time. As do probably the vast majority of console owners… If you’re a “real” simracer, you do own the CSW, don’t ya ? ;)

Driving with the Formula Rim doesn’t mean you can only feel “real” in an openwheeler. Almost all the GT and Touringcars today have a Formula-Styled steering wheel, the number of round-rims in real life is MUCH smaller then the number of cars with a Formula-Type wheel.

To be honest, I might get this even though I only drive open wheelers 50% of time. Reason being is that my hands never leave 3 and 9, and it’d be nice to not have a useless top of the wheel getting in my way when driving. Some GT cars have a wheel like this too, such as the McLaren MP4-12c GT3, and also LMP cars…

Sorry but a open wheel style isn’t the most common used wheel in motorracing. Maybe in a couple of famous racing classes like DTM or big GT’s. Even in alot of small open wheel cars they still use round weel. For example the skipbarber series or the Star Mazda series. Both very populair series in simracing on different platform. Most common wheel is still a round 1. If you statement would be true. Why do Momo and Sparco both have more round wheels in their productlines? So I have to agree ith Silly. Therefore I own a F1 rim as well a GT rim.
