F1-S-R F1 1992 2.0 Coming

Back in December 2010, F1-S-R released their F1 1992 LE mod for rFactor. Now, a new version has been announced.

The new version comes with completely remodeled cars featuring more details and plenty of other eye candy as you can see in the previews below. Until then, F1 fans might want to give the first version a go..

1992 saw Williams Nigel Mansell clinch his first and only World Championship title, followed by team mate Ricardo Patrese. The year 1992 is remarkable for another reason as a young German named Michael Schumacher contested his first complete season in 1992, finishing third in the championship and clinching his first win at Spa Francorchamps.

    Only L.E.? :(

It seems the importance of a historical version escapes some groups who seem to think that either leagues are far more important than the average user, or they just can’t be bothered to program the talent files.

I have been really hoping they would do a historical version of their amazing 1994 mod. It’s such a good mod it seems like such a missed opportunity if they don’t. F1-S-R churn out really good F1 mods but the lack of a historical version leaves us like a car without an engine. A bit pointless :(

I’m just coming back from racing f11993 for about 1,5 hours offline and even though the 91HE mod is superb, in the end of the day I have the same fun with those LE versions.

Well, but that doesn’t satisfy the needs of others who may not online play so much because you can hardly get an unlocked server these days and when you do, it’s empty and you don’t have time to commit to joining a league.

Thats great. Please please do one for 1994 mod. For obvious reasons.

Making the physics for just ONE car, and getting it right, is a hell of a lot harder than most people think. We are talking about months of tweak and adjust (and that is after you have put the correct numbers in for the engine, gearbox, suspension), then you add in all the other cars for the season followed by yet another round of testing and tweaking to get the correct balance. In the end the mods would never get finished and you would still be waiting for 1994 etc.

I think the negativism is totally uncalled for and disrespectful. F1SR is very aware of the importance of historical versions – but how long do you want to wait for it, and for what game?

You are misinterpreting what you call negativism (is that a word?). There are quite a few historical mods out there already and it’s not like F1-S-R haven’t done it before.

But at least from my point of view, it was merely an observation. I love F1-S-R’s mods and have rendered many of their amazing car models.
If I didn’t think their mods were worth the extra effort I wouldn’t say anything.

I just find it disappointing and a shame that some of F1-S-R’s great F1 mods don’t have a HE version yet. CTDP had it in their 06 mod, MMG had it in their 07 mod and FSOne had it in their 09 mod. Possibly to varying degrees of accuracy but at least it was something. You can argue about it having to be perfect all day, but it really doesn’t need to be. We’ve been accepting ‘fairly close’ up to now and we can carry on doing so.

So believe me, it is far from being disrespectful. If these mods were crap, no-one would be bothered. But they are not so people actually care enough to want to enjoy these mods something like they ran in real life.

F1Racer, thanks for that info, I was always wondering which pretty good f1 mods had different physics for each car, and which ones didnt (i like the ones that do), so thanks for that bt of info.

F1 1991 HE was incredible, they have perfect models etc. but if they put the time in to add individual physics for the ’92, ’93 and ’94 mod, they would be perfect. It’s a shame too, as their other mods (WSBR 3.5 and GP2) which are equal vehicles are incredible fun, as well as their F1 1991 mod which, imo, is the best mod on rFactor..

And we will now have another perfect F1 mod :)

91-HE is great. This is why we are drooling for more HE stuff from these guys :)

I cant seem to find a decent link to F1 1991 HE either, they are alll missing or damaged in some way? Any idea guys? I dont mind LE, but prefer HE versions to play offline.

Because nothing is finalized in rF2, they keep changing.. so no point in doing alot of work for a non FINAL product.
