F1 2012 – GamesCom Demo Shots

Codemasters have released some new gameplay shots of their F1 2012 GamesCom demo.

The shots give us a first peek at the title’s HUD which, unlike the title’s UI system, dosen’t seem to have undergone major changes since F1 2011.

F1 2012 will bring all cars and drivers of the current Formula One World Championship season to the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The title is due to be released on September 21, a demo version will be available around September 14.

So, I’m seeing a new Onboard cam here, and we’ve had a demo announced.

I’m curious now tbh. I had all but written this off, but it seems like Codemasters know that, and are looking to get us to atleast try it.

    We’ll see.
I’m still seeing a rubbish HUD, and there’s something weird about the Ferrari gloves.

Will happily live with crap gloves if the rest of it is enjoyable to play :)

Well they’ve certainly broke the mold with a promise of a demo. We’re all going to be able to try before we buy and that has to be commended. Meantime, we still know diddly squat about the new Simbin title, save for the rather general, though impressive, video released earlier. Hope that will change over the next few days at Gamescom.

Same here, I’m curious to at least try the demo. I never understand why some companies are hesitant to release demo’s. If you are that proud of your work, you shouldnt be ashamed to let people have a sample.

It costs money to make a demo and allot of companies really on the hype and buzz ( after spending 60+ million on advertising and x million on the IP ) to sell the game. rather than using the actual quality of the game to sell itself.

Just that by not having a demo allot of people will buy the game on impulse having a demo can remove that impulse in a % of the market.

That doesn’t mean a game without a demo will be bad by defualt but it does make you think about the quality of something if they are worried a demo might reduce interest rather than father increase it.

best lap 2.00.966 at spa?? horrible driver!

I don’t think it costs that much money to make a demo after spending tens of millions on the development. It will only be less than a tenth of a percent.

Its more a cost in potential earnings. In the time it takes to make a demo and package it the same members of staff could have made 2-3 DLC content packs that generate over $350,000 each

Publishers often See demo’s as a way to sell the game or gain exspsure when you have a brand like F1 and have spent xx miloin on advertising allot of publishers simply don’t think its worth having a demo.

Looks like Morph is driving! Remember Morph? The Plasticine man..

rFactor, rFactor 2, pCARS, netKar Pro – All had/have demos or Betas with full refund available.

I will be buying Assetto Corsa, no doubt, but I wouldn’t say they broke the mold here.

    This is ‘Champion Mode’…

I meant broken their own mold of releasing a title badly in need of a patch and no-one being any the wiser at release time. I’m encouraged by this development – massive step in the right direction, but also wary of the fact that Codemasters have recently been at pains to distance themselves from the sim community.
