F1 2010 – Xbox Magazine Review

Following the Official Playstation Magazine, the Xbox 360 counterpart has reviewed Codemasters’ upcoming F1 2010 title, giving it 8 out of 10 points.

Even though the review dosen’t really provide any insight aside from what’s already known, the article includes some new previews including a first shot of the Korean Grand Prix track – A venue that isn’t even completed in reality as of yet.

Following their maiden Formula One title that was released only for the Playstation Portable and the Nintendo Wii, Codemasters will be bringing the 2010 Formula One season to the PC, the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. F1 2010 has been confirmed to be released September 24.

Read the review earlier, one thing is the lack of info on the damage model, which is especially strange seeing as they make reference to Dirt 2 and how they feel its a better game in some respects in their opinion.
You would imagine that this is the one area they could easily make a comparison.
Have to agree with the Live the Life even though i havent  played it yet ,but from what ive read its just a more advanced version of the Dirt 2 menu system but now you have to pick an answer from 3 choice presented to you.
Im hoping i agree with their opinion on the racing aspect, after all this is a racing game and if you need live the life maybe a racing game is not for you.
Has anyone seen the OPM review.

  • Boris

the full OPM review is in the last issue that released just today

That a review of a review to sell the mag :)  not really what im looking for but i see that
Virtualr is once more to the rescue 2 posts higher.
Same type of review from OPM it seems
    Racing is good,
    Live the Life is crap
And no mention of damage again
Maybe this is F1 Bumper Cars
alright maybe not quite that bad but strange that 2 different reviewers on 2 different mags review a game from codemasters who are know for damage in racing games and its just glossed over or not mentioned at all.
Dont get me wrong ,not intending to crash on purpose but if its a crash that puts me out of a 2 hour race i want it to be the most awesome spectacle ever seen in a racing game,
felt if nothing else that codies could have provided me with this.

Sounds like you might want to try “Burnout paradise” Dave.

  • Michael

He means the first one he was able to ignore copyright and publish.

  • Dave

    Tried it ,boring.
Like i said above ,just wondering why nobody is mentioning the damage system.
Its part and parcel of real racing ,well unless you are talking about forza and gt5  :)

Page 1 and already bashing Sony… to be honest, I think the Playstation-Review is written a lot better than this one. No matter which console is better, the guys at xBox-Magazine obviously can’t write. You don’t learn much new in both – but when you read it, it feels like Martin Brundle is telling you amazing things about F1 on BBC with die Playstation Magazine, with the xBox one it’s like German RTL-guy Kai Ebel f***s up your afternoon again.

    Knock it off, Michael.

Montoya has posted the scans for us to read. If you don’t want to read them, spend your time chasing the authorities.

I have been reading VirtualR for eighteen months now, and this is the first time I’ve been compelled to write a comment.

Now, just leave it off so others can enjoy reading the comments. These petty arguements are starting to become incredibly tiresome, and they’re doing my head in.

  • Adam Bradshaw

I think he’s got a point, cold chap.

Look at the reviews of ’98, ’99. And whilst F1CE might have looked superb (it did), it was incredibly dull, and hollow feeling. The handling wasn’t great, and it was incredibly stiff.

I like your comparison with the commentators, but you could have replaced Kai Ebel with Jonathan Legard.

    But that’s for another thread… ;)

  • Marcel Penzkofer

Well, in the end you’re right about the other ones. And I don’t think it is wasted time to read this review though, the more you read about that game, the more you’re struggling: buying or not? I never wanted it when I heard Codie will do the job. I considered buying it for less than 15 € when it get’s cheap (probably when F1 2011 comes out). Now I’m thinking about buying it for full price in the week of the release… but I start to struggle again when I read some awaited features here and there will be missing. So what… buying or not…?

What I mean is: This review doesn’t help someone who is unsure about getting the game or not and that is what a review should be able to answer :) . No offensive intention in my original post aganist the author – just – it fails to answer me that question completely ;) .

If it’s part and parcel of a racing game does it need to be mentioned? We’ve all seen the videos and the CM engine sow hy expect to read about it in an OXM review?

  • m0nty

If it’s part and parcel of a racing game does it need to be mentioned? We’ve all seen the videos and the CM engine so why expect to read about it in an OXM review?

  • Dave

“If it’s part and parcel of a racing game does it need to be mentioned? We’ve all seen the videos and the CM engine so why expect to read about it in an OXM review?”

Based on your point why mention the racing if racing is part of a racing game ?
Should we discuss flower arranging :)   instead.
If somebody reviews a game surely they should review each of its different aspects.
They referenced Dirt 2 not me and
one of the highlights of dirt 2 was its damage system ,so you would imagine they would compare.
We have seen the vids and they made the damage system look like its crap ,hoping that someone with final code would have been able to say what final version turned out to be.

Horrible review. What does he mean old F1 game were dull. F1 CE on PS3 was great and F1C, GP4 were amazing, people still play them lol. I think the guy knows nothing about sim games and like dirt2 too much lol. Sim racing games are little dull but rewarding to do good laps unlike arcade games.
