35$ in the US on Steam.

It’s already in the bargain bin ??

  • HeliosCM

Wouldn’t say that, it works at around the same price as what it is in the UK in £.

  • Robin

Anyone else noticed the Ferrari in the second picture? It’s not the Ferrari F10 for sure. I wonder if it will be included in the game?

  • svizzy

    what you do in…f1 2010
30% gettin’ nugged by vettel and having to restart or finish last  :)

    sounds quiet realistic

  • Turkey :D

Yeah! I noticed it on Steam the other day. I can’t wait. Still debating whether or not to get the PC or PS3 version though. My PC is just a smidge above the minimum specs.

  • Uff

So it would probably be better the console version: I personally hate to play games at minimum details, you lose all the pleasure of playing them! :)

  • KamyKaze

    LOL.
    Indeed

  • Michael

It’s F1, they aren’t going to take the piss. I suspect they’ll consider any US sales, especially on PC, just a bonus.

Although I imagine future games might if an American Grand Prix is in the game.

Interesting approach to copyright from virtualr I see.

  • Turkey :D

Indeed. I neglected to mention that I do have a fast gaming PC, but I don’t bring it to college as it’s a hassle to keep moving a huge tower around. When I go home on break though, I’ll have two machines that I can run F1 2010 and have a friend play too.  :) The PS3 version doesn’t have split-screen, so I’d have to buy a second PS3 and a second copy of F1 2010. =/

I may just buy the PC version as it’s more cost effective

  • Ahmad

console is basically like a minimum spec pc

  • Marcel Penzkofer

    :D.
I thought the same. And it really sounds realistic. I think that is one of the greatest features of the game :D. Avoiding to meet Vettel in race might lead to a victory in a top-car :D.

  • Wesley

it actually is the F10 ;)

  • Vettel

@ Ahmad. No it’s not. Consoles have it at the best visual settings, so nowhere near a minimum spec PC.

  • Sander

But the PC version will probably look much better than the console versions, as is the case with most multiplatform games.

  • Marcel Penzkofer

I think he is talking about the car shown next to the Experience-Points you need for a Ferrari. It looks lika a Ferrari F2003-GA to me.

I guess it’s the magazines fault and they were just to lazy to find a proper side-picture of the F10.

  • svizzy

all the cars in game will be 2010s. this is just a mistake from the magazine. btw: the pic of the mclaren is wrong too. it’s the 2009 one

  • _Sy

Dunno who told you that console have it at the best visual setting, as that isn’t true. I think you mean the console will have the best setting that is available on that console to run it smoothly

  • Andrew

From the article:”there are times when you race the same lap 20 or 30 times during the course of a single session – first in practice, then qualifying, and finally in the actual race”
    OMG 20 laps!!! :)

  • Marcel Penzkofer

    LOL. You are right.

But I just realized that beside the Lotus all cars are not 2010 ones o.O

But it would be very nice if the devs included the 2009 cars they had for beta-testing in the game aswell. I know that won’t happen but it would have been more awesome. Especially for Career mode. They want you to drive more seasons in a row to get to a more successful team, but in the end you will drive maybe five years and it there will always be just cars from 2010.

  • Adam Bradshaw

Marcel, you’re spot on with that Ferrari call. I can’t abide that kind of lazy journalism!

But then again, it’s not an FPS they’re reviewing – do you expect any less?!

  • Fokkak Menny

@Vettel: It’s not a common knowledge among gamers, but consoles really are minimum spec computers. About all the games I’ve played on the PC are like half the quality (and sometimes half the frame rate, too) on consoles. If you haven’t noticed, a lot of games are limited to 30 FPS with no AA or 2x AA, and that’s for a reason. You’re giving too much credit for technologies that are almost 5 years old.

You have no idea how many of real-life examples I have for you. Like a friend of mine built a PC recently specially for gaming, even though he’s an old old fan of the PS, and even owns a PS3. The PS3 is great and all, but… only with its exclusive titles, to be fair.

  • Charles Stanley

Who cares how it looks if the physics are for 12 year olds?

I think I’ll stick with rfactor’s F1 Mods and the diverse plethora of tracks I can race on.

You kids can continue to be enchanted by this console glitz.

  • KamyKaze

    Fine for you.
I will have fun racing in spa trying to guess in wich lap it will start raining.

  • Charles Stanley

Sounds like a hoot. Let me know how cool the rain effect is after the novelty wears off.

I will patiently wait until rfactor 2 comes out with a full weather simulator and then I can race whatever car I want on whatever track I want with some annoying rain.

  • Philip Oakley

Don’t think you’ve been watching the developer previews, Charles. They’ve clearly stated several times this will have sim physics as well as arcadey physics, which at times can be fun.

If you like Geoff Crammond’s GP4, my bet is you’ll like this :)

  • Dave

Wonder if they had the final code at all ,if they had why didnt they take sceenshots from the game.
Do mags have dev consoles ,or do the games have to be specially mastered for them to play on ordinary consumer consoles.

  • Turkey :D

With a low end PC vs. a console, the PC will have an edge, able to achieve a higher frame-rate and resolution. Low end PCs tend to have jittery frame rates though, even it’s still being rendered faster than on a console. It sometimes depends on how well the developers optimize the game =/

  • belzebutt

Has anyone from the sim community driven this game yet? What about that web video show with the two nerds and the large-breasted lady? Did they get a hold of it yet?

  • Captain Underpants

‘…putting this up there with the best drivers around (Dirt 2, GT5 Prologue, Brunout Paradise)’

Hilarious. At least we know their standard of comparison.

Still, the review actually managed to get me much more interested in this game. They made it sound pretty intense, and being able to scale the events up to a full length race made me happy.

  • Captain Underpants
  • Fokkak Menny

Agreed. A lot of PC ports usually deliver higher textures, richer HDR and more AA. But a good old Nvidia 8800 can run them just fine if each game’s settings are toned down to match the console’s.

  • Fokkak Menny

I was worried about how long the races are going to be… Now, I’m kinda relieved.
Though I used to be worried about whether there will be practice and qualifying sessions, but apparently Codies didn’t drop those. Now I’m worried whether we can set everything to manual, e.g. speed limiter, pitstops, pit call, etc… I hope they don’t turn that game into a complete noob fondling piece of crap like they did with DiRT 2. Was a good game though.

  • Fokkak Menny

@Charles: I also play a few F1 mods on rFactor, like MG F1 2010 and FSR, but doesn’t mean I’d call F1 2010 a game with physics for 12 year olds. I mean, I’m excited about the game too, and if that makes me a 12 year old, then I can’t imagine how old you are, man… like what, 80?

It’s all about the fun, you know. Some people tend to forget that, start talking like they’ve driven real F1 cars then call everyone else kids. It’s just a game, it’s meant to be a game, and I’m definitely buying regardless of the level of realism it delivers.

I won’t be surprised when Ferrari Virtual Academy comes, and a couple’a guys show up and call rFactor unrealistic.

man they talk about everything we already knew but what about the physics emmmmmmmmmm….what about them , any ideas about the new update????

  • NitroStar

I’m just waiting to see the PC version for pre-order on Amazon so I can pre-order it. I like to get a boxed version instead of just the Steam invisible version :-D .

  • Hired Goon

There is no way this will have sim physics and arcadey physics.  This is the same marketing bs they tried to pull with NFS Shift.  This is clearly aimed at the arcade and console crowd (Cuz that’s where the money is).  If you are a hardcore simmer…wait until the sim site reviews trickle in.

  • Hired Goon

You know what…it’s not all about the fun.  Perhaps it’s all about the fun to you, but to me and others it’s all about the level of realism.  If they tell me it’s an arcade racer then fine…I know what to expect for my money.  If they tell me it’s got sim physics and if it clearly does not then I’m pissed.

  • Fokkak Menny

Actually it is all about the fun, or I don’t think any real race driver would have signed up to be one in the first place. Or let’s put it this way… Passion. But seriously, what are your measures of realism when you don’t even have the perspective? That’s my point when I said “Some people tend to forget that, start talking like they’ve driven real F1 cars then call everyone else kids”. For all you know, you could be indulging yourself in a sim you think it’s accurate or close to accurate, while it’s nowhere near what it’s like in real life.

I haven’t driven an F1 car before, in fact, not a single open wheel, aside from the fact it’s just a “game”, then yeah, it’s supposed to be fun at first, and anything else comes second, unless you take it personal and feel being lied to when a company tells you it’s a sim, get all hyped over it and then realize how stupid your decision to buy it was.
