F1 2010 – New Screenshot & Website Online

Codemasters has launched the official website of their upcoming Formula One 2010 title for the PC, the Xbox 360 and Playsation 3.

The new website contains info and some preview material in various languages, it doesn’t offer anything regular readers of this blog haven’t seen though.

Along with the website launch, a new high-resolution preview screenshot has been made available. The shot shows some pitstop action at Monza, showing the Force India, McLaren and Brawn GP cars in the pits.

Following their maiden Formula One title that was released only for the Playstation Portable and the Nintendo Wii, Codemasters will be bringing the 2010 Formula One season to the PC, the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. F1 2010 has been confirmed to be released in September 2010.

Looks like Hamiltons seat broke and he is heading straight for Whitmarsh.

    They are all midgets :sd:

Kewl, a screenshot of content that will not be in the actual game! Great

2009 season is done (it seems to be).
It should be a payable downloadable content…

With every new screenshot I see I’m more and more confident somebody really did barf all over their colour pallet.

The CM art director needs to be fired and the game passed through a “Daz” filter to fix those whites before release.

Major props for not outright photoshopping their promotional media though.

I like it, the best looking pits ever made :)

  • vik15

The colors look like it’s a postcard from the late forties. Nice pit crew modeling although.

  • ForzaBarca88

Bah it seems noone can get the colours right. GT5 is an epic bloom-fest and perhaps a little over-saturated while Codies engine seems to have a grey or brownish tinge to everything. Both look great mind you, just not in a “realistic” sense. Still much prefer it to gmotor2 or iracing anyway.

Erm….midgets need to bend less which saves a couple of tenths :sd:

Codemasters has to allow us to customize the post processing effects to our own liking!!! There is something called the “Options” menu! Is it so hard for them to let us do that? I was hoping they would do it for Grid and Dirt 2. At least the modders fix Codemaster’s games.

  • scca1981

You can edit the graphics xml to turn off the post processing in most Codemasters games. Grid for instance is fantastic looking maxed out with the over-bloom shit disabled. With bloom on however it looks like crap. Dirt 1 was the same way but not as nice looking. Dirt 2 in my opinion looks best without anything disabled as they kind of learned to reduce the bloom some so it still looks good.

As far as this game its still early to judge much until we see a good high quality video of it in action (not a recording from a camcorder) or a demo. I agree the coloring is a little ruff in the shots they have shared but being early screenshots I doubt its exactly how it will look in the finished game and of course they have probably touched them up some.

  • kill4f00d

Messing with the XML files is annoying. It would be lovely to have some “sliders” in a menu with a preview so that it would be easier to customize the post processing settings.

    Too much sepia.

I edited the screenshot in Photoshop to make it as realistic as possible and here is my interpretation of it: http://j.imagehost.org/0747/f12010pits.jpg

However, I despair with some of the people on here. Even if this game won’t be a full on hardcore sim like LFS, netKar Pro, iRacing etc, it will still be FUN! Does nobody in the sim-racing community understand the meaning of this complicated and sophisticated word anymore?

I hope you all have to eat your words when this game comes out.

I think all the color problem came from the monitor and tv companies with all their “improved” and “dynamic” modes. This make an impression that colors are something to your taste, something variable while actually the color reproduction on modern displays is an exact science, with a lot of available instruments to show both printed and on-screen colors accurate and exactly the same on different devices.
You are hardly find anything over-saturated if you bother to set your monitor color reproduction accurate. Probably you would find everything on the opposite side: grey, brown and dull. In most games at least.
It definitely something weird when monitors become more and more saturated and games put more and more sepia filter to compensate it.

Fun, well it depends how you imagine it. For me, I just do not find arcade, from last to first in 3 laps, and ott graphics fun.

What I find fun, is actually having a *challenge*. Something that forces me to learn, change and adapt. Currently only racing sims do that for me, not arcade racers.

It might only be me, but just because its easy, or fast paced, or entertaining, does not mean its fun.

Codemasters are doing their best to make this work for hardcore sim racers. Some of the team are hardcore racers but they know they have to make money too.

The specs on this game if they can pull it off will put most sims to shame. We have to go back to GTR to remember a sim with a proper racing line appear after a few laps.

We will see in September how many are happy with it.

  • racefan4

this colour effect has already been removed.
just look at the gameplay videos on youtube:

Do you mean the Simbin title, GTR? If so, does GTR 2 not have the same feature?

If GTR 2 does not have that, but GTR1 does, I will be very shocked…

  • richiespeed

p.s, I cannot understand how this will put anything to shame.

I can see iT already…as realistic as Grid, as bloomy as a nuclear bomb, and with no real resemblance to what F1 is about.

And also, it probably won’t have any good graphics features like AA, will probably have stupid blur, and will probably be very hard to mod, and completely unfriendly to modders.

It’s going to be crap, face it. CM screw everything up.

  • racedriver

I think the gfx will be great as usual but the filter they use is not nice at all. It always looks brownish and yellow thing.

  • Zenitchik

OMG whole 3 laps… hopefully on the easy setting it will only be one lap race.

Would be nice if they could make it half lap, much more fun this way.

Yes this was missing from GTR 2 and the Race sims. The reason was the split of the two studios after GTR some features were left out but some new ones were added.
