F1 2010 – Korea Reality Check Video

A new reality check video of Codemasters’ upcoming F1 2010 title has surfaced on Youtube, showing the Korean Grand Prix circuit both in real-life and in the virtual world.

Located 400 kilometers outside of Seoul, the Korea International Circuit will host the 17th round of the 2010 Formula One season. Designed by Hermann Tilke, the 5.6 kilometer track consists of 17 corners and will accommodate 135.000 spectators.

The venue is quickly nearing completition and was recently tested by Karun Chandhok, providing the footage used in the video. Even though Codemasters had to model the track without the real version even being available, the virtual version is pretty much accurate as you can see below.

Following their maiden Formula One title that was released only for the Playstation Portable and the Nintendo Wii, Codemasters will be bringing the 2010 Formula One season to the PC, the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. F1 2010 has been confirmed to be released September 24.

Whoever is doing these reality check videos… put them side by side.

  • Jack

apparently the real one is missing a lot of grand stand =P
but wow…. codemaster has done a great job of creating something that didn’t exist before!

Whoever is doing these reality check videos… please put them side by side.

  • stephen300o

The real one isn’t very realistic at all, I for one will not be buying the real one.

  • phil23

Yeah, have to admit that Codies have done a decent job with that track. Actually I hope the real one looks that good when it’s finished!!

  • zudthespud

I think how long this game will last for me depends on how good it is to drive the car by itself on a test day situation. 90% of the time I have spent with rFactor is on test days, because the cars can be really challenging and satisfying to push. If these cars are like GRID where there is a perfect lap time that most people can do, then it might not have much sticking power for me. The racing should be fun though.

  • f0xx

    Another great track from Codemasters.

  • Ernie

Topsy-turvy world. The virtual track is more finished than the real one. :-D

  • Ben

How exactly do they know what is going to be placed where?

Anyhow, their version of Spa isn’t super accurate, Les Combes and Malmedy look wrong to me.

  • f1racing

maybe because they made spa track, and just little before actual race happened they added asphalt run off in that corner. ;)

  • Prent_F1

Ain’t that difficult to gather correct geographical data with google earth pro! ;)
    Anyway good job CM!

  • Gommow

Yeah cos it’s inaccurate as hell

  • howiemotz@yahoo.com

The real one rides like it’s on rails! It’s in the wet, is going faster then the codes, and never slips or slides at all.
What’s a matter with reality any way? Why won’t it listen to us Sim racers?!

  • Ben

    Haha ;)

Yes, they did add run off at Les Combes, good point.

However, that wasn’t what I was getting at. I was looking at corner profiles, camber, bumps, width, etc. There is a definate crest in the road in Codies Spa, just after the exit of Malmedy, bit like a bump / jump, which does not exist in real life. The undulations look all wrong also, of course people will just jump up and say its the FOV or something, but ive looked at the rest of the track and some of it looks ok, other bits look inaccurate.

im sure codemasters managed to get hold of building designs and info off of tilke’s company. computer generated info etc etc

  • f1racing

true…but You need to know that there is hard to find any race game which has all of its tracks 100% accurate…even simbin games have some mistakes on some tracks, but again, when game is good than we fast forget it all and just enjoy driving it. I hope it will be the case with this one too ;)

  • Slimjim

I am glad codie added everything, otherwise the track would look like crap..
and will F1 race in Korea this year.. it’s not 100% yet.. they have a lot of work to finish this track..
and if you really think this track will show on google earth.. go try to find it.. most pics from google earth/maps are years old…
i’m sure they used the artist drawings, and the tracks blueprints to make this.. maybe this is what the track will look like in the future when compleate.

  • Real F1 Fan

Yeah, you think… ever try it?  Make the new proposed F-1 track in Austin TX. Please for all of us here at GTR2/rFactor!  Just use web’s preliminary layout and google earth!

  • Slimjim

here is the original track layout concept.. this Codie version looks pretty damn close to me..

I don’t think these videos are that usefull, the cars are never in the same place at the same time so it is difficult to compare properly.

  • Sensekhmet

Mirrors are not fully visible? :(

  • CodeMistresses

Hmmmm.    Why would anyone buy this instead of 6 months of iracing?    or rF?   For weather, and funny-looking tyre deforms? [This is why we get crappy games, guys, coz peeps buy the rubbish and skimp on the quality]

  • Knarf

    Spa in F1-2010 is laserscanned…

  • KLone

Laser Scanned Track Data – Considered early on in the project we assessed for our needs and decided against its inclusion in favour of other features.

  • IonAphis

Because this beats iRacing any day, because it feels more exciting and because when I buy something, I want to own it, not lease it… I’d buy rF, but not iCrap

  • juan colin

    exactly, I noticed that too.

  • iFailing

6 months and then what? pay for another 6? and another and another….
