Hey guys, am I the only guy around here who's optimistic about this game? LOL! I heard that the game will include 2 modes: An Arcade and a Simulation!Well, I don't know CM's idea of a simulation, but all the gamers were jabbin' and anticipatin F1 2010 to be a SIM that i think the developers might finally listened to the people's desires and might made this game a SIM! Cause honestly, If this game bring me the physics of Dirt and grid after nearly 2 years of anticipation, this will be an EPIC FAIL! On the other hand, Don't forget that Rfactor 2 is around the Corner! I actually think that RF2 will Beat F1 2010!

from the article just posted;“Some of this can be fixed with a quick visit to the pits but make sure you stop on your marks – one video they showed us featured a car knocking a team member down.”

Yeah but just found out that the game does indeed control your car for you in the pits. All you get to do is hit the brakes at the right time or knock over the front jack man. :(

Kinda pathetic that they take this control away from us because FOM doesn't want us mowing down pit crews.
So why not make the pit crew so they can't have collisions? Or do it like GP4 did, where you had control but the game helped you in if needed.
Without that full control I think it breaks the rhythm of the game and the intensity you are feeling and the adrenaline of making a pitstop will be lost.
I don't buy their excuse for this one at all. At no point in a race should the computer take over for you. Not even after the chequered flag. You should be able to drive the parade lap and come back to parc ferme on your own.
At least in sim mode.

rF2 hopefully will give us these options.

I like Dirt 2... so cool! Though I don't think it will be quite as aracady as Dirt 2 appeals to younger kids, I think they're going to improve on the Dirt 2 physics.... I'm looking forward to it and can confirm it is a must buy for me!

F1Racer: I hope we get full driving control in and out of the pits, that’s kinda crucial as making a good stop by stopping on your marks is all part of the F1 race.

from the article just posted;

"Some of this can be fixed with a quick visit to the pits but make sure you stop on your marks – one video they showed us featured a car knocking a team member down."

Sounds great. The onboard lap on monza is nice, and this shot of teh dirt on the tyres, the tyre wear and blistering ideas being thrown around...

It sounds incredible Suarez10, thanks for that. Red Bull shots look neat too.

One thing I noticed in the 2nd video (on board with the Red Bull) was the limited amout of steering wheel movement going on in-car compared to the users steering wheel. I hope thats adjustable.

Also it was clear that the guy didn't know the track at all but on the first crash into the wall the car seemed to just hit the wall and stay there. No rebound or lateral movement. Maybe its down to the driver aids he must have had on (god mode for sure). Kimi took a nice dive over the Red Bull too.
Still its pre-alpha so much work still to be done. Unfair to judge it too harshly at this stage.
We can all post our comments on the CM forum if we want to draw their attention to something that they can maybe look at before it goes gold. Better than crying on here and no-one listening.

looks similar to GRID. Too much brown that makes it look surreal and like a 100 years old photo. I would prefer the colors of the real world.

Check this out:
If Codemasters get this to work properly it will be a SIM-Racing first!!! :sd:

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2010/03/17/f1-2010-first-play/

Codemasters are especially proud of their track simulation which they call ‘active track technology’. This re-calculates the grip levels on the surface for every 30cm the players’ car travels, taking into account build-up of rubber, marbles from the tyres and, of course, the weather.

This has a clear effect on your car’s handling. Not only do your tyres pick up dirt if you go off the track, but braking off-line is trickier. Go out on the track in the first minutes of Friday practice and you’ll find it’s ‘green’ – low on grip – making your lap times sloewr. You’l have to pay attention to how the track develops to pick the best moment to set a time in qualifying.

When rain falls the track gets greasy and eventually puddles develop. If the rain stops a dry line begins to emerge and you’ll have to look after your tyres by seeking out damp patches of track.

We saw some video of the rain effects and they look genuinely impressive. Clouds of spray billow off the cars and reflections shimmer in the puddles on the track.

i want a game like grand prix 4 so i don't want an extreme realism like rfactor or iracing.

Grand prix 4 is fun and only a bit realistic (great boxes animations like f1 2010 , realistic rain effects and a good car physic).

So from f1 2010 i want:
-good graphic
-great damage model
-An intense f1 experience!
-Decent A.I
-Good car handling

this is it.

Paul Kelly: This is a crossroads title for Codemasters. Will it return to its simulation roots from back in its heyday of the Colin McRae Rally and TOCA series, or will it stick to the cash-and-carry mentality of DIRT and GRID?Will be interesting to see.

We thought TOCA/TOCA 2 were sims only because we didn't know any better. Compare cornering speeds and laptimes to real life and you realise they were not serious sims.

The problem with F1 is while championships might be close and the backgound changes (new teams and driver changes) are interesting, the actual racing is boring. Codies will have to spice it up somehow.

jonneymendoza: whats the point in making an f1 game that isnt a sim, this is clearly gonna be aimed at f1 fans, and an f1 fan is gonna want something as close to the real thing as possible. In order for that to happen, codemasters should give the f1 licence to simbin.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll be happy to give away a license they paid millions for, to give a smaller development house that caters to a super-niche market a shot at it. Thanks for contributing.

F1Racer:
It won’t ? Oh right so now we know.We don’t need to discuss that point any further then.We have it confirmed right here.Oh well there goes another hope for the simmers :( Back to rFactor.

@F1Racer- Amen! Don't know what good it does for people to make blanket statements of negativity- does it make people feel better to jump to these conclusions based on seconds of pre-alpha gameplay and other bits of info that are now known? I don't see them offering me an alternative F1 experience with a career mode, animated pit stops, simulation of marbles and tyre blistering, etc...

It's just like the SHIFT release info all over again...

I read the articles, but I won't dare look at the comments anymore, the rage from some people and the complete slagging off, even at this stage, is just not worth my effort to read.

btw, SHIFT came out quite well.
