CVG.co.uk has posted two artwork previews of Codemasters’ Formula One 2010 for the PC, the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3.
The previews show a busy pitlane and the inside of a pit stall from cockpit view, these shots were initially posted by the Japanese Famitsu gaming magazine which promises to have more on F1 2010 in their July issue.
Even though some gaming sites labeled these images as first screenshots of 2010, it’s pretty safe to say that those aren’t in-game graphics.
F1 2010 will bring all cars and drivers of the 2010 F1 season to the PC and the consoles. Since the future of F1 is currently pretty much in jeopardy, the title may end up being the first one about a “new” Formula One without all known works teams and drivers.

I can only imagine Codemasters is sweating a little bit about the actual value of their license come release time.

Looks more like 2D drawn artwork that’s been taken to the photoshop factory than anything in-game.

“oops.. time to change plans again”
Maybe they should release the 2009 F1 cars and series tracks instead since it will probably be the last true F1 series.
Otherwise it might be time to capitlize on a cheap FOTA license.

Good god that’s lame. “We’ve got a great new game. Here’s some artists interpretation.”
Of course if F1 disappears, it’s going to be awesome that Codemasters wasted their money on a useless license and by delaying the game shot themselves in the foot.
Any hope that Codemasters had a hope in hell of making a good game were shot to hell when a friend tried Dirt recently and said how horrible it was and that Codemasters just have no clue how to make decent physics.
This game, like F1 itself, is doomed.
An old editor of mine when I was reviewing games for a living said that with screenshots, the first ones will always be amazing and completely over the top, then the closer you get to release they get less and less stellar. (Like the way you see the same screenshots used to pimp Xbox and PS3 versions of a game.)
Wonder how fast that guy is moving in the garage to be that blurred (second shot on the right)?

Aahh what would we do with the ever-cynical, glass-is-always-half-empty, good ole Uncle Chuckle.
Like water to a fire as always.
So you’re saying there that any chance CM had to make a decent F1 sim all went out the window because of your friends opinion ?
Wow, thats some power right there. He must me one of these ye olde soothsayers. Comparing DIRT to an unreleased other game is pointless.
F1 aint doomed yet either. Personally I think whats happening right now in F1 is a big d**k waving competition between FIA and FOTA and FIA are going to have to compromise (well lets say Max is going to have to).
If FOTA breaks away, then yes, F1 will die and so will the new series they become. Somehow I dont see that happening.
But, thats another story.
An old editor of mine when I was reviewing games for a living said that with screenshots, the first ones will always be amazing and completely over the top, then the closer you get to release they get less and less stellar. (Like the way you see the same screenshots used to pimp Xbox and PS3 versions of a game.)
Hey, marketing is marketing. They can dress things up as much as they need to for as long as they want. I dont think theres many of us that are going to judge the actual game based on some artistic pics of what is basically F1, not the game. Most of us have seen enough in our time to seperate the advertising from reality.
The fact that you were a games reviewer surprises me.
Did ANY game get a positive reaction from you ?

The hell? How can you bash DIRT for bad physics, it’s an ARCADE game. Sure, it’s floaty but setup changes actually have an effect on handling and jump physics is pretty decent. It looks nice and has a lot of different racing disciplines. DIRT (as an arcade game!) was a blast, can’t wait for DIRT 2.
Sometimes you need a rest from sims, something that’s fun instead of mostly work (yeah, building a house gives you satisfaction, but sometimes you just want to run around with powertools… get it? ;) ).

I dont know what track this is suposed to be, maybe Shanghai?
But certainly not Silverstone as the track map on the monitor would suggest

It’s kinda fun, cause no one knows how the 2010 cars will look like. So these cars are in the screens are ‘09. And why do CM put such an effort to do paintings of cars that even won’t be in the game? :P
And also, this game can’t be released before November next year when the season is over (if there will be a season next year). Atleast not if they wan’t an accurate game with the correct carshapes and all.
In my opinion, I think they should leave F1 to the SIM-racing modders. I doubt Codemasters will have all car upgrades and everything included. No other F1 game has, not even the 2004 were BMW had the (konda legendary) walrus nose half the season. :P
No, leave it for the modders, like MMG, FSONE and the other great groups!
