F1 2010 – Extended Gameplay Video & Interview

Italian gaming magazine Spaziogames has released a new video of Codemasters’ F1 2010 title, treating us to over six minutes of gameplay and menu footage.

Furthermore, Gaming Only brings us a massive video interview with chief game designer Stephen Hood who discusses various F1 2010-related topics in almost 30 minutes of video footage.

In related news, the very first review score of the upcoming title is in as the Official Playstation Magazine has given F1 2010 9 out of 10 points, calling it “one of the most terrifying and intense racers ever made”. A detailed VirtualR review of both the PC and Xbox 360 version will be available in time for the release.

Following their maiden Formula One title that was released only for the Playstation Portable and the Nintendo Wii, Codemasters will be bringing the 2010 Formula One season to the PC, the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. F1 2010 has been confirmed to be released September 24.

  • F1-3000

    Yawn..

    Lifeless and utterly boring

  • milo

one thing that gets me, the beads of water on the screen????   wat the. even kart racing in the rain, water doesnt bead on the visor!!!. and that shot in traffic in the rain at monza!!!!
graphics look amazing, anyone like below that says its boring doesnt know s**t, how can you tell?. untill that first drive, that first practise session getting to play with setup and pushing the car to the limit. we will know then!!

  • jeff

In the gameplay video, why are the wheels off the track on the Renault at 5:45. In a few places the cars seem to be hovering. Other than that it is pretty.

  • F1-3000

How can i tell u asked??? i have tested and seen the game in Gamescon

    THAT’S HOW I CAN TELL

  • Philip Oakley

It takes longer than having a quick build on an unfinished game at a game festival to know if you like it or not.

  • Flaux

    I am patiently waiting.

    Sep. 11 is RFT-Day and Sep. 24 is Codemaster-Day

    :)

  • Simosimosimo

why do you wait for rft mod when LMT 2010 is better and its released?

  • Diromo

It is released? 1st time I heard that, there is nothing at http://www.virtual-racer.eu/ *DONT_KNOW*
    Any links then maybe?

  • Mitch

No need to talk about your personal life on here.

  • F1-3000

if i judge from your sense of humor is definitely less lifeless than yours

  • Ahmad

Before I discovered sim-racing back in 07 I used to play F1 on the PSX all the time. I’ve loved every version since F1 96. Now if I take sim-racing out of the equation, this new Codemasters version is 50x better than the previous versions I’ve played, and that’s just by watching videos. So then you add that there is wheel support and that it will be at the very least 25% sim, you have in myself a very happy F1 gaming fan.

    STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP COMPLAINNNNNNNNNNNNNIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Flaux

Only because of the physics… I think its a matter of taste… I don’t like fsone2009 either… Those are all good mods and we are in the wonderful position to choose. BTW: LMT isn’t out officially and thats the bottom-line.

  • Koen Calleyl

Is it me, or are all the steering wheels the very same 3D model :O

  • DeDios

    Looks really good IMHO

  • Explosive Face

Were you the guy who started ‘Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like’?

  • F1-3000

No,i’m the one who started “Is being an idiot like being high all the time?”

  • Firestarter

Are u aware that you are on a “100% simracings news” site? So be aware that some have high demands and rightfully so :)

  • Marcel Penzkofer

We still don’t know how it feels to drive with OUR settings (Wheel, Sensivity, Max. Force Feedback etc.). But if everything is as good as they say (which I hope but you never know…) then this is a must buy game. This will be supreme to any F1-Game before then. On the other hand it just has to beat the old GP4, because there hasn’t been a better one since.

  • F1-3000

and when you believe is the appropriate time to know that? before or after you have bought it?

  • Uff

That’s one of the first thing they said after that the game was announced: steering wheels have the same base, with some details changed from one to the other. This is related to hands animations: creating a different animation for each team would have cost too much in terms of resources.

  • mariojsilva46

  • Wesley

    you should know…

  • Ahmad

It may say that in the banner but I think we all know that this isn’t a 100% sim-racing site, it’s really about any racing game that has any sort of sim aspect to it. Let’s be realistic, there’s a word.. realistic.

  • Donbobo

What’s the deal with the mirrors in cockpit view?

I’m all for accuracy and detail but not being able to see the mirrors becasue they are out of view on certain cars is stupid, and hinders playability.

Lets pray for a virtual rear view mirror option, or hopefully all cars have viewable mirrors.

Other than that I’m hoping this will be as good as Formula One 97 on the PS, that was the best console F1 game I’ve played in championship mode.

  • F1-3000

Honestly i don’t,since you seem to have experience on both can you tell me?

  • Moss

Just realized after all these videos that they don’t have different steering wheels. Bugger.

  • Dave

Seems grid places are wrong in spa but only a little detail ,am sure everything else is right,

Seems targa says F1 supports dx 11 on twitter so any mention has thread closed down

  • Mr. A

Those who are expecting simulation or even semi-sim physics will probably be disappointed. I listened to an audio blog a few days ago, by the editor in chief of Swedish gaming magazine Gamereactor. His impression of the physics is that they are very arcadeish. Even with every driving aid turned off he thinks that the handling is way too easy. You can go flat out from a standstill with nearly no wheel spin at all and crash into other cars with little consequence.

  • Yonas

    HA!

  • F1_fan_1

After you bought it, because you can fine-tune your wheel settings, get used to the cars and tracks, have a little play with the setup….

At first I wasn’t very positive about this game, but now I’m thinking: F*ck all those little things that aren’t right, I just want to have a lot of fun while playing.

  • Dave

Any chance of link to blog

  • spliff

haha, when i was very young, the kids used to do that kind of argumentation! *mirror*

  • kevmscotland

LMT only do private league mods.

  • Mr. A
  • sTomas

    Uff to the rescue!

  • Mitch

Wait… im lifeless cause you dont have a sence of humour?
    riiiight…..
To me this game looks like its full of life, the animated crew/media/fans gives that essence of professionalism as a real racer. Career mode looks like it will be a blast.

  • Wesley

you think you’d come out more serious when you post the same 3 times? I have bad news…

  • Wesley

indeed, i bet he(F1-3000) isnt used of having people talking to him…

  • Riches

The more promotion a racing title needs, it mostly to cover up for lack of driving quality.
So it will probably become are very stylish next gen arcade racer.
Maybe in a few years we can convert the laserscanned track for usage on a proper sim.

  • mike88

what was obvious from the videos the complexity of setup changes is no where near rfactor or iracing. so its no secret that it is not going to be sim equivilant of iracing etc.

what i am hoping is that they get the force feedback feal correct. that to me will break or make the game, if they can get live for speed ffb feedback this game will be great.

plus you know someone will figure out how to edit the pc game. it didnt take long for need for speed to be editable so…..

  • Georg

I know, that this game is built to be as authentic as possible, but i would be very pleased if there was an ingame option, that allows to remove the antena from the front of the formula, because it is very annoying, especially in the cockpit view.

  • Creatorex

Good game! Acceptable sim I think. Some people states too much about what’s Sim or not. I think is sim. AS rfactor, iracing, simbin ones, even shift (look at overhaul mod). So simulation will be. The taste as the coffee depends on each person. For me Sim is also good graphics and damage model, the capacity of immersion, sounds, etc. So let’s use each parameter not only physics. Because even being purist at home none can simulate Gs and other real movements limited to a good wheel for a regular sime or gamer :)

Let’s test and taste it and after we could talk with the experience in or hands and brain :P

For all of us is important that lot of people join to the sim/games of driving to get better products and more accurate. Let’s support this nice approach to F1 probably the best till the date.

    Regards, B.

  • F1Racer

you either want it real or you don’t.

  • McBain

Codemasters also messed up the mirrors in Dirt 2.

  • Dave

They added arrows that come up on your screen to show the side the car behind is taking in relation to yours if its trying to overtake(only when in overtaking position i think but could be on screen all the time unless you turn it off)
Cars were signed off a good while ago and not allowed change(well that the reason given anyway) so that is where the mirrors were then i think
If they had a cockpit adjustment it wouldnt be much of an issue ,seems most people on codies forum are playing in Tcam so maybe more given to that view.

  • F1Racer

The arrows are at least something but theres nothing like looking in the mirrors and seeing another car right up your gearbox and diving for a pass.

  • Georg

i guess i overacted a bit, it was just a first impression. Watching that clip a little bit longer, it doesnt look so dashy. But it keeps me thinking, does that antenna affects pilots in real life.

  • KamyKaze

Except there are no laser scaned tracks in this game

  • mikemav

hopefully TrackIR is supported on the PC, ala Dirt 2 (same engine), and glancing to the side will bring the mirror in view. That’s what the real drivers need to deal with…

  • stabiz

Nei, dette slet jeg litt med å lese. Du må skrive på engelsk sånn at alle kan forstå.

  • dalibor

    real!!!!
    grrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Joeri

Just wanna add to your setup comment…
in real life, the drivers doesn’t make huge changes either, most of it is already done by the team and the technician’s. the driver only needs to tell if the car is understeering/oversteering too much or too less… and at which point on the track. usually the engineer then makes the changes :)

probably Cody’s have made base setups for all tracks, and then allows you to make the same minor changes like they do in real life.

    my 2 cents :)

  • Gianluca

Have become boring this news on game f1 2010, does not speak only of this game, so if can be relase at end season 2010 … !? an old game in 2011 ! ^^
