F1 2009 – Major Announcement Coming Up

After some weeks of silence around Codemasters’ upcoming official Formula One 2009 title, the company has now announced a major announcement that will be released later this week.

Recently, rumors have come up that the title may not be released until 2010, the announcement will hopefully clarify this. The gaming world is still waiting for first preview shots of Codemasters’ first ever Formula One game as only a few laser-scan shots have been released until now.

Formula One 2009 will include all cars and drivers of the current F1 season, Codemasters is promising a title that will please both casual and simulation gamers. F1 2009 will include advanced technologies such as laser-scanned venues and extensive racing surface simulation that includes rain, dirt, marbles and multiple grip levels. The title will be released both for the PC and all major gaming consoles.

I’m so sick of promises. “We promise to deliver a game that satisfies both casual and hardcore simulation fans”.

When are they going to realize that they don’t know how to deliver a title that does this? The ONLY, and I STRESS the word ‘ONLY’, way to make a game that satisfies both hardcore sim junkies as well as casual gamers, is to make the game first and foremost a hardcore simulation, and THEN add assists and arcade modes. The trick is to have those assists and modes activated by default so the general public has a plug&play experience, and those of us who want to dig into the real sim can toss the assists and get down and dirty.

The sooner developers follow this formula of development, the sooner all of us will have a title that truly everyone can enjoy.

I’m about as thrilled at this news as I am about the prospect of returning to work in the morning! Whats next for Codies? Big world wide web announcement that the programmers pressed a few keys on the keyboard? Or maybe some fake render scenes? Perhaps a bright idea to stop exploits and cheating that have plagued recent Codies racing games? Yeah, right..

“Home home on the range, where seldom is heard a discouraging word, and the deer and the antelope play”

Codies always provides free demos. So no one has to buy any of their games blindly. So their is no reason to complain and bitch.
I’m looking forward to see what they can do with F1 and there advanced race game engine. More advanced then any of the present Sims. Lazor scanning, Multiple grip levels on the track. All for 50-60USD. Considerably cheaper the iracing! I’ll bet the complainers will be the first in line to download the demo.
