From the Official UK Playstation Magazine comes a rather interesting rumor on Codemasters’ first official Formula One title. F1 2009 was announced to be released in 2009 for all major gaming consoles and the PC.
Development of the new title seems to be taking longer than expected as rumors suggest that the Playstation 3 & Xbox 360 version of the title won’t be released until 2010. No details on the PC version have been given, the PSP version is still planned to be released in 2009 to meet the license agreements.Despite some scan-data shots, Codemasters is yet to release any preview material of the upcoming title.
F1 2009 will include all cars and tracks of the 2009 Formula One season, using advanced technologies such as laser scanned tracks and in-depth track surface simulation.

I suppose this could be a good thing. To me, it means they’re either writing a new engine from scratch, or heavily tweaking the GRID engine. Both seem like good things to me!

I previously only read about a probable PS3 delay, but it still has to be confirmed if my memory serves me well.

No surprise really. Maybe they can’t get access to the Abu Dhabi track yet :)
Still its better than those games that are numerically one year ahead of their time like Fifa 09 and NFL 09 which you buy in mid-late 2008.

Well CM didn’t even announce F1 09 in their 2009 release line up, so I had 2010 as an expected release schedule anyway.

lol, indeed. It’s pretty hard to scan a street circuit before it’s actually set up.. they’ll have to wait for the GP weekend to do that
I’d assume it’d be the same for Monaco, Valencia and Singapore too. It’s possible they were scanned last year but I’m sure we would have heard about it through some channel.
Of course, if they’re only scanning the road surfaces it would be a different matter

I didn’t think it was a street track…
I’ll say the same thing i said about CTDP 2006- I’d rather it was late but amazing than early and rushed.

It’s Codemasters. It will be late and unamazing. It’ll be an immense disappointment to ardent sim racers, and the typical mass audience friendly physics we all hate so very much will be there. Mark my words. They didn’t pay Bernie through the nose for a license to F1 just so they can squander it on a sim with limited appeal just for us hardcore racers. At best it’ll have arcade physics that they fiddle with a bit and call “Sim” mode.
There will be no proper physics in the game. Guarantee it. Just like Spore had its soul ripped out so it’d have more mass market appeal, this game will be the same.
So the hardcore faithful will still be waiting for a decent F1 sim. (And no, mods for a lamentable sim don’t count.)

yes but ctdp is a non prifit mod group we get those mode for free
cm is a company were we have to pay for content ind if a major company like them can ball it up like this what does that say about them
people like simbin do high quality work and they don’t miss dead lines or realese dates
