SimBin replaces the modified .mnu file with the original from the .gcf archive, and all the modifications disappear. Maybe we, as a community, should try to convince SimBin either to add 7th gear themselves, or to allow changes in the .mnu file of the Steam version. If you can find it, give it a try, it's as good as any F1 mod I've ever tried.
