F1 2006 by CTDP – Previews

The Formula One 2006 mod made by the Cars & Tracks Development Project won rFactorcentral’s Mod of the Year award in the category most awaited mod. Reason enough to finally talk about this impressive mod on my blog.

CTDP is recreating one of the most remarkable years of Formula One which featured an intense battle for the world championship and the very last race of seven-time champion Michael Schumacher. To honor this and to give players the most realistic mod possible, CTDP goes incredible lengths and does some stuff which has not been done in any rFactor mod so far.

The team did not just create every car from scratch, the mod will also include every livery of every car that has been run in 2006. But the detail won’t just stop at textures. Every model is featured in its realistic specifications, i.e. lots of wings at Monaco and a low-downforce setup for Monza. If you choose to run a full Formula one season using the real-life tracks, the physics of the AI cars will change to match the changes of power during the 2006 season.

The team hopes to release the mod sometime within the next four months, those of you who can’t wait can check out the gallery below and stay up to date on CTDP’s dev-blog.
