F1 1998 – Arrows & Stewart Previews

GPTeam has released several new preview images of their Formula One 1998 mod project for rFactor, showing off the Arrows A19 and Stewart SF2 models

The team is currently looking for a capable physics person. If you have a soft spot for 90s Formula One cars and want to help out, make sure to contact them here.

Originally created by CTDP for F1 Challenge, GPTeam has received permission to bring their mod to rFactor, adding one of the final seasons of the 20th century to the simulation.

It’s nice to see people putting effort into these older seasons, though it’s a shame that it’s another conversion, meaning F1C cars with very low poly count put into rFactor. Usually I don’t mind, if the gameplay is good (physics) but with the advancement in graphics of F1 2010, rF2, FVA it’s starting to becoming disappointing.

  • f1racing

well despite being conversion from F1C those models still look quite good. They are not HQ models like latest FSONE or CTDP mod made for rFactor, but again it is good.
And I would rather have this kind of mod than being without it ;)

    Looks great! :)

Minardi previews have been released today.

those cockpit shots reminds me of the Simbin (EA) F1 2000 game :D

  • Uff

F1 2000 was done by ISI, not SimBin. They didn’t even exist as a modding group, in those days: SimBin appeared on F1 2002. ;)

Thanks guys.I am the boss of this project :)
I wanted say that, yes the model are very old and the skin aren’t the best of rfactor.
This mod can’t be compared absolutely with the last mod of rFactor like for example F1 91,92,93 CTDP or FSONE…why?
Easy, because the mod is old (i think 2004) and we are only 2 people that work on the mod in full time and other guys help the project only for specific things.
For example the our 3D maker of steering wheels doesn’t work in full time…but he has work for the project only for steering wheels.

I know that the people want ever the best model and the best graphics but this is that we can offer. For me the mod isn’t the best but is a good mod with good cockpit and good steering wheels.
Then there is the trackpack with all 16 gp…and new tracks like to argentina and monza 98.

I think that overall will be a good mod ;)

  • f1racing

wll said. But for me mod is not just for graphic. If some mod is fun to drive and if it has decent (not great, just decent) graphics than it is 10/10 from me.
It is great that two man team could do such great looking conversion. There are some mods which are also conversions from F1C but they don’t look that good. I am waiting for this one.

Don’t get me wrong, I definitely don’t mean that graphics come first, not at all in fact. Gameplay is number 1 and if that’s good then I’ll definitely play it. I still play F1C and RH mods. I’m just saying that with current graphics engines and my hardware which can play F1 2010 full res without issue, the gap in polycount is becoming bigger and bigger so it becomes more noticable.

The trackpack will be a must have for me, especially a good Argentina will be nice, I always loved that track in GP3 and Monaco Grand Prix Racing Simulation 2. For the mod the physics is the decider, though it will definitely be nice to drive the Mclaren of that season, since Hakkinen was my favorite back then.

    Remembered the F550 Olive’s Garden …

  • peppe92

    Yes dont worry :)
I wanted only explain the problems of low poly.
I know that your comment wasn’t a critics but only a statement ;)

Being myself a member of  a small team that did season 89 and 91 for F1C, i must congratulate the guys behind this mod, and say it’s great to start seeing some of the vast modding library of F1C or GP4 appearing on other platforms. Keep the good work guys :)
